Description
What happens when two souls share one vessel?
Ash Morgan was but a child when he was given the mark of an enforcer – a chance for a better life. A decade later, that same mark summoned him to the prestigious magic academy at the heart of the empire.
He set off, making unlikely acquaintances, and almost immediately coming face to face with the corruption that lurks in the shadows of the empire. As Soul Magic once again began to surface within the empire, he soon found himself caught in the treacherous political landscape of the royal courts, targeted by various groups for his uncanny ability to see the unseentoo welland at the crosshairs of a masked woman wholly corrupted by Soul Magic.
Thrust into the chaos of a dwindling empire, Ash and his classmates are forced to use every bit of power they have to keep themselves and each other safe.
What to expect:
Weak-to-strong Male MC + a small group of companions
Two lead characters, both male
Long-term progression through thirteen mortal ranks, then thirteen immortal ranks

- ANARKYRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Definitely an interesting book. The characters and environments are described very well. The author has certainly used the grammar well.
It brings a slightly different perspective to magic, and it makes the book even better for me.
I really enjoyed the parts I read, and I'm looking forward to the next chapters. - PodVonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The setting of the story is an unusual and fantastical world.
Immersion is excellent with vivid and well constructed descriptions of scenes and characters alike making for a believable scenario and enthralling reading experience.
The characters themselves are well crafted and developed, very easy to become emotionally invested in, to like or hate, and complex enough to change your mind about... repeatedly. Following their intertwined fates becomes particularly compelling as more of the nature of the world's strangeness and ancient mysteries are uncovered.
The author employs a slow reveal, 'voyage of discovery', as the various characters explore new aspects of their incredibly unique and in-depth word, sans info-dumps.
The story is not limited by a singular, simplistic point of view, and the reader can absorb the rich background without wading through unnecessary exposition.
The pacing is consistent and the dialog flows particularly naturally without any of the immersion breaking anachronisms that often plague pure fantasy works.
A very well written fiction with excellent grammar and use of vocabulary, and with only the occasional typo.
An all round excellent book that I will eagerly await future chapters of.
Probably not a story for those who want to be spoon-fed simple plot or who require everything to be spelled out and explained in full before it happens. - DagrunRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Style: The writing style of this story gives me an almost epic fantasy feel. There is a great big grand world to build, and we're getting it bit by bit with each chapter, suggesting that the story is going to just keep growing. The world being built has some fantastic concepts that I won't spoil here (because they're honestly really cool, and you should read and found out), but adds a level of intrigue to the world where the environment does have some vast differences to our own.
Story: The plot has a lot of potential, as in the author is giving it enough space to develop and grow. Between the prologue and the events within the first 8 or so chapters on top of the main character's personal goals, I expect this story's plot to be massive, building up to something greater than any of the characters can foresee. Because of the build up, it might feel slow at first, but give it time, it's going somewhere.
Grammar: The grammar is good. I sometimes notice dialogue from two different people being in the same paragraph, but that could also be a problem of pasting the story into RR's system. Words are spelled correctly, sentences flow, and proper punctuation is used.
Character: Perhaps the highlight of this book, in my opinion, is Ash. He's well fleshed out with a cohesive background, and his current behavior reflects it. He really comes across as a character that is going to lean into the rags to riches trope, and I'm a sucker for that stuff! :P Overall, the story is worth the read, especially if you like the feel of high or epic fantasy. - Gabriel SandorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Fascinating concepts, really liked the idea. so far its going very well.
it has very good grammar, interesting story for a progression fantasy book, fairly original story idea.
Pros:
Detailed and deep characters, very good descriptions, good prose :)
Cons:
Not enough chapters, promised second lead is not around yet (why?) :(
