- Qu4nlunRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An unpoppular but very nicely done piece of work. Hope to see more soon. And why does these type of stories so rare tho, I just found by sheer luck while wandering around. Anyways, just hope the author will have a comeback soon for more.
PS:release new chapter faster, so curious to know more after the first contact - the M00ING cowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overthinking? Misevaluating? False assumptions? This book is is a masterful craft displaying a comedy of errors, headed by an innocent and ignorant protagonist. A society rife with corruption and decadence shows a wonderfully crafted tale. A sublime encounter of when a superstitious and bigoted medieval society stuck in there ways opens a gate to the unknown, a modern earth. If you don't like comedy of errors this novel will not be for you, simple communication and logical thinking could of course solve any of the problems. However, the author does a fantastic job with world building a society that refuses to allow these simple fixes to happen, through their arrogance, ignorance, or their cultural customs. I really enjoyed this work and would recommend it highly for its ingenuity and extremely entertaining dialogue.
- luda305Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Interesting worldbuilding. Very novel, very alien society (weight gain, sexuality, nobility). A bit of orange-blue morality.
The Empire mentioned in the synopsis is completely dysfunctional, which can be hard to sympathize with those characters. Think Parks and Rec or 30 Rock, but 10x worse. Some folks are just plain suspicious (very suspicious), while most everyone else is incompetents, including the protagonist. I think this story is HFY, though if it is, it is in the same sense of Idiocracy: why rise above everyone else when you can just push everyone else down? Those themes can make the story hard to appreciate because it's just a bunch of terrible (or immature) people doing terrible (relatively) things.
To be clear, the whole portal summoning doesn't happen until ch 12, so a lot about imperial stuff before the portal plot really happens. After that, it's a lot of staring at a hole in the world leading to a boreal forest (Canada? Siberia? Unclear). The fantasy species which makes up the Empire is very sensitive to cold.
