- AwakenedMuseRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall
I enjoyed this story. It's a quick read, and whille some chapters look quite long, much of this is stat blocks. It is presented in fun quick sections, and the author clearly has a plan for progression as monsters change and the characters level up.
Style
I have not read a lot of LitRPGs, so I don't have a lot to compare this to. However, the system notifications and stat blocks don't get in the way. After a little bit they seem second-nature, like reading a video game with pop ups and everything! At times it does feel like the stats are repeated a little bit too often, or they duplicate what the text already said.
Story
The story feels solid. So far the introduction arc just finished, so it's a little hard to assess this category since the plot is just beginning. However, I'm guessing it will continue to be a dungeon-crawling level-grinding kind of adventure. It's set up for that. Monster of the week will likely give way to a bigger bad, which may have something to do with the disappearance of the MC's parents. Should be a fun read!
Grammar
The grammer can continue to improve. This author has gone back to edit the story, it sounds like doing some pretty major edits in response to comments. This is always a good sign!
Character
The main character is not your typical hero. He certainly has a lot of growth he can do, and I hope this will happen over the course of the story! The supporting characters have been introduced and seem fun, but they are not well-established yet as characters. This will come in time. - gej302Royal Road★★★★ 4.0The worst part of this story so far is the first half of the prologue. I couldn't follow the action. DON'T let that stop you from giving it another chapter, it's worth the page turn.
Story: The prologue is confusing. I got confused from the beginning and stayed confused until the second half of that chapter. After the prologue, the chapters are clearer, but who is doing what is sometimes unclear. Bare words like "smirk" "dodge" and "sizzle" are used without context for them, which works when there's only one thing going on, but was confusing in the battle sequence. Plot is fairly predictable so far.
Style: Like the use of color for different effects. I was thrown by my American-ness on use of ',' vs '.' for grouping separators, but that's not your fault, no star reduction. (1.000 is one thousand for you American folks, you've been warned!).
Grammar: A bit weak, but not as bad as promised (see intro notes to prologue). This kind of failure to meet expectations is a win. Typos and words out of order or other similar issues are less than common, but not rare, and none of them impacted the story greatly. If those things will bother you, move along.
Character: Tropes abound. Friend with heart of gold. Pitiful MC start. Young Master Bullies. MC gets the OP switch that is foreshadowed in the prologue. If any of that bothers you, move along, your story is in another castle. Characters are introduced, aside from MC, they are relatively consistent, but a bit flat. MC is 2.5d, and getting better as you spend more time with him, which is expected.
