85 years ago, genocidal slavers entered our quadrant of the galaxy. They killed 80% of any species not their own, enslaving the rest to provide labor for their mines and farms.

28 years ago, they finished off the largest and last of the space traveling species in our quadrant, the Collective. Before the Collective fell though they released a warning to all of the fledging species within their influence and all of their designs.

21 years ago, a researcher gained access to that knowledge.
