Left behind is a post apocalyptic horror style story about the MC Simon being left behind when humanity fled an unlivable, dangerous world. In his struggle to survive and his refusal to just give up and die despite his situation appearing hopeless, Simon gives up his humanity to persist.
This is apparently a fanfic for a story or game I am not familiar with. I still enjoyed it either way.
The spelling and grammar was on point. I didn't find anything needing fixing.
The pace is good as there is a good amount of threats and mystery. There is creepy monsters, a crazy computer and the environment itself is a threat.
The world building was faily easy to accomplish because of the premise but it was still good.
There was only really one character to develop in the first 6 chapters, but his development was well done. There is a lot of emotional turmoil with Simon who is very alone and struggling with his new reality.
Overall a good horror science fiction story. The story is just starting out and there is a lot of potential of where this story could go. The MC seems to be becoming something very powerful.

I didn't realize until I went to write this that this is a fan fiction for a game. And I've never played the game, but that makes a lot of sense.
Anyway, it follows Simon an, ex-human ai, on his journey to both simultaneously back track and relive a survival horror situation, as well as discover more about what's really going on and what he can do about it.
Simon is compelling and the author does a great job portraying his journey and his emotion, but it's somewhat limited, I feel, due to the source material. It puts the reader in this strange situation where Simon knows way more about what's going on, and only reveals important facts when they become plot relevant. But that’s way better than info dumping, and the author makes it work.
Where I think this story really shines is in its style. It’s got this simultaneous body horror and body wish fulfillment going on. I really can’t get into it without getting into spoiler territory.
The story is at its best when it’s describing bizarre futuristic technology and how that affects a human (or AI?) psyche.
Read this if you want to experience a harrowing fight for scifi survival that borders on the supernatural.
