- matthewrbirdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is much more real than others. The main and secondary characters behave with realism and are true to themselves. If you like a story wherein people are more real then this is a story for you. Well written and internally consistent. The author is creative in the directions the story goes and prolific. This story is a translation done with Chatgpt not an AI story...
- romromromRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It has been more than half a year since I started using RoyalRoad and this is the best novel I discovered. I would recommend going straight to it.
The story might start off as confusing but that is an intentional choice by the author to showcase who the main character is and how they operate. This story doesnt really focus on the fights so there won't be many fight scenes. However the wordlbuilding is downright amazing and one of the most unique ones I ever saw.
Then there are the character's, they are all unique and very diffrent from each other while also having identifiable names. Some names might be difficult to remeber but thoughout the story I was never once confused when a character's name popped up. The author also made sure to properly develop a complex personality to the characters to turely showcase what makes them special.
This story isnt for everyone, it isn't the slowest but will not be very fast either. There is an entire book that took quite some time to finish. So I'd understand if some of you wouldn't want to continue. Nevertheless this is just part of the experience and I felt that it was the right choice to make the story that way.
If you want to read this. I'd recommend reading it periodically cause it can be very tiring. - HeavenRefiningDemonVenerableRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: Personally, I love the style of how the story is written - or rather the translation. I am not sure what it'd be like in raws who may be better or worse.
Grammer Score: You can hardly notice this is a mtl. Whoever is reading this, I'm sure you've read originals and translated stories with much worse grammar than this.
Story Score: World building, pacing and the plot of the story itself has been amazing so far. Plot doesn't feel forced and it's very interesting. The pacing is done very well - although there might be some "filler" chapters but, if author mentions something chances are it's gonna play some kind of role later on - even if minor. These 'filler' chapters are used to flesh out the world more.
Character Score: Even if the main character were to disappear, the other character can each carry the story. You have different characters who feel alive (something that rarely happens in web novels). You have some characters you'll like, some neutral and some you will dislike... The character make mistakes and learn from them. MC isn't the perfect type despite having future memories - he makes mistakes, maybe even 'dumb' ones due to his emotions, and things don't always go as planned but he learns and grows from them. This happens with other characters too.
To explain more about the synopsis: MC in the future sends his memories back to the past - but there is a clash between "current" and "future" memories at the beginning (which might put people off due to style its written/make them think its badly translated) - it's intentional.
Overall a great combination of good world building, plot, characters and writing. - JowasutRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In the beginning i though that this story would have a similar feel to an Infinity genre fiction but I was proven wrong. The MC regresses to his past self and tries to fix his mistakes and become stronger than before.
This translation is pretty top tier. Give it a read. At the very least it isn't bland. - KentrumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly I don't get these people leaving low star reviews no sooner than the fifth chapter, just because the "trials don't make sense", that's one of the plot points of the novel! (Seriously it is addressed later)
While it might seem like a generic apocalypse story at first with levels and all that, the author quickly throws you into a vibrant new world that is alive, with its own people, intrigues and culture to which all our fellow earthlings (readers included) must adapt
Overall, this story is shaping up to be one of my favourites and is a breath of new air with its unique style - 7keiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0i have read many books on royalroad. this one is not at the top of my list on royalroad but it is definitely in top10.
but despite that i feel this is the only book worthy of a tv series, and the rest in the best i have read would not be series worthy - Venerate_Emperor_HeavenswordRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is one of the best portal fantasy/isakai novels I have read. even though this is a translation using chatgtp I could not have tell that it was since I have not notice any grammar or spelling mistakes. the characters in the story are very fleshed out from the mc to side character the emotions they depict feel real and the action scenes are similarly depicted making the novel feel lifelike. the power system is easy to understand yet a little unique compared to the rest of isakai. overall I would recommend that you give it a read because this is a very underrated masterpiece
- Ciel AzurRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Good story, good management of the MC power scaling. There are mary sue in the story doing all the classic mary sue stuff, but they are secondary characters. The adventures are really diverse as well. The personality of characters is well defined, evolving with the story, the world is living. It will probably go around 15-16 books, if it continues like that, it will be a must read of the genre.
The main negative for me is the kind of time travel part and associated memories. The MC knows mostly everything about this world and in his previous experience reached the top in around 1 year, which seemed short to me from book one, still is book 8. 10 years would have been more fitting. Anyway time travel are like car starter, good to turn on the car but you need to turn it off asap, which is not easy ... - RandomReviewerRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Translation Review:
This one takes number 1 in my ranking of best AI translated novels. It's not really a fair comparison though, as the rest in that list are Eastern novels, and this is a Western novel with an editor that checks and corrects issues— as well as does their own research to find similar idioms.
Story Review:
The story is entertaining enough, but the world is pretty ridiculous, and many world building aspects are done in half measures. There's an awful lot of time skips and lack of agency in a story with so little time.
The regression aspect of this regression story is it's weakest link. We're supposed to believe that the MC has obtained a truly ludicrous amount of information on the world, meanwhile others that were similar to him in his previous life still lack basic etiquette 20% of the way through the story? The time span, what he did in his previous life, and what information he has simply don't add up.
There's also a heavy emphasis on sex, because this is a mature novel, and mature novels need off screen sex and need it often. There are 2 explanations in the story about why it so heavily exists— one of which the denizens somehow haven't figured out in thousands of years, and the other that doesn't make biological sense, and in fact makes you wonder how Ain's population isn't rapidly shrinking.
Overall, it's competent and well worth the read. It's not my favorite story— I have a lot more minor complaints and issues that I haven't bothered putting to words, but it kept me entertained throughout and I plan to continue reading it as each volume gets complete. - khoa102Royal Road★★★★ 3.5I understand the MC is not a special person, just ordinary. And the author tried to portray him as a person that makes mistakes. That is fine, however, he makes mistakes too often. Every few chapters, he will make a mistake and sometimes, two in a single chapter. Making so many mistakes, I can only see him as not smart and not competent. Furthermore, I usually don't like to read a story where the MC is ordinary without anything special. Because if he is, he would never be successful. He needs to have something special to him, even hard working is fine. But I don't see anything in him so far that is special except for his future knowledge.
