- FangYuan1234Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I simply love this story, and I fully believe that with a bit of Grammarly, the author will be able to easily fix the grammar of all the chapters that require it, hence the 5 stars.
Now, have you heard of Reverend Insanity? Imagine it was a song. Now imagine another song with different lyrics, but the same energy of never giving up and trying until one's last breath to achieve one's goal. That's the backbone of the style, as the pov follows the MC for 90% of the time. Pure fucking desperation, hunger and madness, the kind that either kills a man or makes him a world champion. This is exemplified through quotes and philosophy from time to time, hence my comparison with RI.
The plot is VERY well thought out, unexpectedly so. Plot points from literal years ago are still being brought up, fitting in the puzzle that the author is making. Nothing feels forced and the power system is a very uncomplicated xianxia without annoying flourishes.
The MC I already covered so let me tell you about the side characters, because they are some of the most well-defined and non-puppets I have seen in a xianxia. Sure, there is face-slapping and there are young masters here and there, just as there are goons, but the older or more important a character is, the more you can actually feel their brain working, using tactics and shrewdness that sometimes gives even the MC trouble and pushes him one step away from death's door.
Anyway, I have rambled quite a bit but I am very, very impressed with this book. The most impressive thing is that Ye Mo is almost without any plot armor! He is lucky, yes, but one could argue that there are TRULY more lucky characters around. Everything he does, every benefit he gains (besides the lucky encounter in the beginning of the book which is actually very tame by xianxia standards) is grasped with his own hands in ways that most people would simply be unwilling to.
He is willing to die to reach his goal. Truly, the Great Love Immortal Venerable would be most - SunwinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm really enjoying this story.
The main character is completely focused on his goal and doesn’t hesitate to kill if it helps his cultivation. Everything is just a tool for him to get stronger. It makes the journey intense and exciting, and I can’t wait to see what happens next - jhevaunRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Been reading since the start, I'm a huge fan. The updates were rather slow so I stopped for about 13 months, resume yesterday and now I've finished what chapters are out. Is there a way to access advanced chapters or are there no advanced chapters in the first place? Please respond soon.
- A Rusted TreasureRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story features an MC who takes a lot of inspiration from Fang Yuan and I believe it does so well with the MC acting with precise rationality for what he knows at the time and ruthless cunning.
If you are looking for a cultivation book with a demonic MC this is it. - Green PennRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The book has a lot of promise.
I found the first chapters tedious to read through but once you get through that you enjoy the story truly.
This is very good work for a starting author . So I give four stars😁🤧
I look forward to reading more of your work😁 - franternRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I think this is pretty good Demonic MC, pretty traditional Xianxia too. Both elements I really enjoy. Asides from the MC's lucky encounter with a demonic technique and him being mature for his age, there aren't any regression/reincarnation/etc gimmicks going on. While the MC is strong, it is very clear that he doesn't act without thinking which is always refreshing to read in Xianxia.
It's a bit slow starting too, reminding me of the initial arc of Reverend Insanity with Fang Yuan in his starting village (especially with the reasoning of the elder's about the MC's behavior). As of the most recent chapter of writing this review, the MC hasn't even left the starting village yet. I think this gives the story a lot of longevity and room to grow and am very excited to see where it goes.
It doesn't bother me, but I do think the grammar does need a lot of work. Improper capitalizations, spellings, and word tense are littered throughout this work. I was able to ignore them and enjoy the story, but some will find them jarring which is a shame for a story with so much potential. Definitely needs an editor to go through it, especially for the beginning chapters.
