- Nemo BlancRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you like your fantasy stories with a side of grit and a splash of blood, this one’s worth checking out. Soldiers, Mercenaries and Killers drops you into a rough, war-torn world where honor is rare, coin talks, and surviving the day is sometimes all you can hope for.
The first few chapters feel like war stories told around a dying campfire, there’s action, but it’s grounded, personal, and surprisingly character-driven. We’re not dealing with shiny heroes here; the main crew is made up of grizzled veterans, killers with history, and mercs who’ve seen too much. Somehow, that makes it all more believable. And honestly, more fun.
The writing leans simple and direct, which fits the tone perfectly. It doesn’t get bogged down in purple prose, and when things get violent (which they often do), the pace kicks into high gear. There’s a kind of rawness to it, like a blade that hasn’t been polished, but still cuts deep.
If you’re into grounded military fantasy, morally gray characters, and a world that feels lived-in and lethal, this one's a solid pick. Just don’t expect carnage, people bleed here. A lot.
All in all, more stories should be like this. Pure, unfiltered, savage fun. - B.DanteRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The Eve of Adam: A Tale of Legends Review
If you like power fantasy, easy to digest stories that move at a fast pace, with plenty of magic, battles, and powers, this is for you...
[Reviewed at Chapter 7: Flames of War]
Style
The style is minimalist and moves the plot at breakneck speeds. Perfect for readers who like a faster pace.
Story
The story follows Adam as he rises up against the emperor of the land: a totalitarian dictator of epic proportions.
There's magic, warfare, rebellion, and an OP MC. What's not to like?
Character
Adam serves as our main protagonist. He is a powerful and magnetic leader fighting the good fight. There isn't too much depth to him, but I get the impression that this story is far more plot-driven than character-driven. In which case, Adam is your classic power fantasy MC that readers will jump at the chance to imprint on.
Grammar
This could definitely use a once-over. I have helped out where I can. Now it's down to you, dear author.
Overall
A tight piece of plot-driven writing offering powerful magic, epic battles, and an empire to liberate. Perfect for fans of series such as Solo Leveling. - CarcharodonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story follows Adam as the MC and his preparations and struggle with the oncoming conflicts regarding the loss of multiple cities of his kingdom. It is written compact and through this, the set up and the follow up hit very easily and quickly besides each other. One has to take the author in relation when grading this work and looking at the respective progress mind you. through those easy and compact chapters a quick and powerful story can unfold.
As said, the author writes very compact and the story streamlined into short sentences. This hits my personal style very much, cause it shows a story in a refreshing way down the line. Its easy to follow and through this a compact read. Be warned, that the authro still finds his way of writing and is making progress with every chapter. The author takes feedback to his / her heart and by that improves his / her style a lot. This is taken into the account of this review.
If you prefer longer chapters and broader sentences, this is not the story for you. If you prefer a compact read with some easy and quick lore drops and progressions, this fits you very well. Its also a very pleasant experience seeing a new authro improve over time and every chapter. - jDjRoseRoyal Road★★ 1.5This may sound mean, but this needs a complete rework.
Firstly, the style reflects the writer. It quite lazy in the sense and seems to focus on quantity over the quality base on the number of chapters release with less information on what going on. Going with the paragraph style, it's hard to read and I feel like many people will enjoy a story that isn't set like this.
Grammer looks fine in all honesty.
Character were not as good since my expectations were high with the short chapter approach, but I feel like my thoughts can change with the latest chapter. The same with the story, i feel it getting better as its progressing.
