Description
Kari Stewart and Curtis Reese grew up as close friends and spent their adolescence together, until Kari discovered that she was special. Her parents took her away and trained her for years, leaving Curt behind. Years later, after she's mastered her powers, she arrives in Avalare City, hoping to help people. Curt, meanwhile, bitter that his best friend, widely his only friend, abandoned him, leaving him to languish turned to the only skills he had. He built himself superpowers and uses them to steal from the rich and to provide for the poor, something he wished had happened for him when he was younger. They are given alternate identities by the press. Smash Gal, the strongest woman in the world and the elusive thief, Esvanir. And they couldn't help but clash.

- AdtfrostRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This author is doing very well for himself dipping his feet in the water here. I really like the direction he takes things & his writing style in general. I cannot wait to see what is in store for us in the future. Taking a chance on a small new author is always a gamble. This one consistently delivers in every creative medium he's in. The stories are great, but so is his YouTube channel. It's nice to see this kind of passion from a creative type these days. It's easy to give up, it's hard to put yourself out there when nobody knows you & most likely nobody is going to give you recognition for a long time, if ever. I'd say he's worth looking at in that regard. 5/5 story & 5/5 author.
- Tobias XinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First things first, characters are hilarious. The interactions between them gets a laugh out of me, even during some serious moments. Gotta love when I read a line of dialogue and outright snort from amusement.
Secondly, I like when the "good guys" and "bad guys" line is blurred. It's not so clear cut as "good and evil" for just about every personality here. Keeps things interesting and helps avoid that major super hero story cliche.
Overall, just plain fun. Gets me smiling, gets me laughing, gets me mad, gets me sad. Keep up the good work, SakkaofPi! - Witchbug13Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ah, goodness. Let me start by stating that I thoroughly enjoy SG&E. I enjoy a good bit of superhero related content, and for the most part, I generally don't have a lot of criticisms for the genre. My biggest one though, is that directors and writers have a tendency to focus on what's happening immediately to the main characters. The audience rarely gets to see what's happening in the background, the short-term AND long-term consequences, and even, to an extent, the traumas that comes with the heroism territory. Smash Gal & Esvanir is that breath of fresh air I've been craving. Sakkaofpi goes out of his way to give equal attention to what happens to our heroes and villains as well as the civilians. We get to see what happens to the average citizen and how they might react in horror, in outrage, or even despair because of the destruction that ultimately comes with a city having their own superhero. As another reviewer has remarked, a lot of common cliques and tropes are dodged and, instead, we're given something that is critical of both the genre and the justice systems seen in modern, developed countries. That's just the big picture.
The audience is also given the opportunity to learn the space created by the author side-by-side with the characters. The world and its rules are gradually teased out in a way that makes a lot of sense and doesn't feel like massive info dumps, which is something I also appreciate. Exposition drops have a time and place, but in this story, I much prefer to figure it out one piece at a time. It helps make this universe feel more tangible and interesting to me as a reader.
At the start, yes, the characters can feel a little flat, but who's met a kid who knows what they're doing, how they're doing it, and what all they are striving to achieve in life? But that's the beautiful thingas this gives the audience the opportunity to watch the author flex his writing muscles and really get into the nitty gritty business of character development. I - Sincerely.SinisterRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story focuses on Heros vs. Villians which I can appreciate. Anyone who has consumed media within the last ten or so years can tell you how saturated our entertainment is with this genre. Luckily this author has avoided most cliches, and troupes that are easy to fall into.
I enjoy the storyline so far, the author is taking some progressive story lines but in that same breath I would encourage the author to push a bit more - these moments have an impact upon the characters but never enough (at least for me)
I will continue to read - best of luck to the author in his endeavors - EdsonBXDRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Good story. I really like anything about heroes, and that duality with bad/good, heroes who destroy the city and at the same time save it, villains with a human side.
Grammar isnt my place to judge, but its ok for me.
The one thing that a want to see is a improve on the development.
The characters are good but a little simple sometimes. I love how Curt and Kari dont get enslaved for the past, they move forward, but... i want to see more of them in the childhood, want to see more of them in this 14 years before the atual days.
Take your time, take how many chapters as you want to develop the story. A well-developed story holds the readers in. It makes them want to read another chapter.
Continue to write, i will read, and good luck!
