Skymancer

Description

It's been 1615 years since the interstellar refugees our ancestors called Skymancers dropped out of the sky in a desperate attempt to establish a foothold on Earth before their kind were lost to this dimension forever.  The world has subsequently gone to complete shit, and survivors of both species are scrabbling for the scraps.  This is their story.

***NOTE!  I am currently writing this story and all of my brainstormers are tied up with Life, so I'm desperate for ideas/direction.

Too many stories on RR lack both. The characters in this story seem human and their mistakes actually have consequences.  The apocalypse makes sense and how far back it would take entire societies is actually feasible. Rabblerouser seems very intelligent. While the science may or may not be real :) She seems to be at least making it all work together.  I will definitely find out what happens to Skipper and Ptah. Hope to hear more from them soon.

Absolutely loving this story! It has a few rough spots, but so does every first draft. The author is very receptive to feedback, which is great!
There are several characters that I'm already invested in. Their backgrounds are so diverse that it's fun seeing how they interact.
Give this one a read, it's well worth your time!

So you have your classic post apocalypse wastland future story with primotive (mostly) civilizations living in arbaric depravity but the twist is the aliens from another world sort of weren't responsible. And they're straight up pure energy magic being that act like Djinn and get bound into servitude so empower immortal superhumans can exploit them to nuke the planet with.
Thus you get the delightful combination of primeval wild west savagery and survival with godly apocalyptic powers and ancient super sci-fi technology every now and them. The plots and conflicts diverge wildly in scale of magnitude and consequence as a result. From fighting blood and snot over weird threads that you could trade for a dead rat to worrying over starting a war that might either result in a immortal supermonarch gaining absolute tyranny over the globe or the planetary crust warping slightly enough from violent damage to this time successfully force all life to total extinction, which is an inescapable threat only kept at bay for centuries because of a mad cult leader armed with ancient sci-fi powers who insists that the end of the world can only be prevented by constant blood sacrifices.
It's also a bot wordy so there's a lot to read through relative to the pace of the plot. But I promise the world that eventually gets described more over time avtually is weird and wonderfully strange. Also chaotic and at the edge of abrupt shifts and conflicts.
And the main protagonist is a complete ignorant bumpkin uncomprehending of the world shaping technological and supernatural alien forces that she has to deal with. Which just about tickles me.

I'm intrigued by the world you are building and your characters have depth and motivations that are plausible and understandable.  I love that the MC is smart enough to realize that her exhaustion is leading her to make decisions that she might not otherwise make.  It makes her more relatable.
I know this is still a rough draft and considering that, there are surprisingly few typos or errors.  Most peoples' finished works can't boast as much.  None if it was jarring enough to let my OCD distract me from how interested I am in the story.  Which from me is high praise indeed.
I can't wait to continue reading this story and see how it all unfolds.  Don't let the one rando hater break the flow from your muse.  You're an amazingly talented writer.

I like stories that are unique and different, character-driven and with unexpected plot twists.
I really love Sara's writing style and this evolving story has not disappointed.
I was surprised to see a character from another storyline appear in this one, and am interested to see how this ties into the other novels,

It's been a nice read so far, some parts of it feel like it could be better written. But I would chalk that down to experience.
I am definitely enjoying the story so far.
I would leave a more concise review when I have read more of the story. But so far it seems to be definitely worth a read.
    Nice one aurthur.

It's a bit early to really review the story, but I'm liking what I've read so far.
The characters have a personality and realistic interactions. Our MC seems to actually have a brain and isn't afraid to use it.
The setting is a resource scarce post apocalyptic dessert with what is shaping up to be some interesting world building behind it.
Writing is good. I've not noticed any grammar mistakes, the action is easy to follow and the prose is fine.

It's quite nice so far. The story has some unique and interesting elements. The characters seem driven and feel pretty solid.
Only thing I didn't like so far is some missing build-up. Some story elements could have been introduced slower and sooner just so it feels less like an infodump and plot points become believable without some handwaving.
