Six Years of Solitude

Description

Seshethara Grace is the last disciple of the School of Living Shadows.

Sealed away by a ritual conjured from her master’s last breath, she's spent the past six years at the top of a lonely tower, in the middle of a city overrun by horrendous beasts. But she's had enough.

A short story that I originally planned on turning into a full novel. For now, I will leave it as-is.

(Previously called Soulweaver but then I became an editor for a story called Soulweaver so I renamed it)

Living in the wreckage of a city overrun by monsters, a Ritualist fades away. Slowly but surely, the tenuous status quo sets in, until she too believes in it, that her life is best spent dusting, ignoring the beasts outside.
    Enough is enough.
The overarching plot is crystal clear; she'll take back this city, slowly empowering herself with each kill. This story is a masterpiece of strategy, blending magic and progression to give the protagonist a fighting chance in this post-apocalyptic ruin. I'm quite excited for more of this wonderful work.

I want more short stories like this on RR. This was a refreshing breath of well-organized literature, and I only wish there was more of it to read.
Short stories in general are fun to read, especially since the authors often put more effort into fewer words. I definitely saw that here, with only 2100 words alluding to a story encompassing an entire city, an entire world. Truly inspiring.

Slice of life meets post apocalyptic nightmare fuel
It’s relaxing and exciting, it’s spooky but cool
The lonely lead has depth, which is apparent from the start
The narrative is tied very much tied to her mystic art
It’s just getting started but the plot feels very deep
The kind you think about when you’re in bed but still can’t sleep
There’s some very dark tones but it’s quite an easy read
The author uses language very beautifully indeed
I’m already really curious how things play out
Even though it’s still not clear what this will be about
I love the world that’s built around the action of the plot
It feels like it’s the product of a lot of time and thought

A compelling short story about a girl whose master tethered her to a husk of a city, her only pastime is count the motes of dust which have accumulated in the ruins that she once called home, with new determination she is about to do everything in her waning power to come back to civilitation.
(Taking half a star cause what i wanted before the end did not happend)
