Description

In a war between Kingdoms, six apprentices discover a deeper horror and flee for not only their own lives, but for the lives of every being on the world of Thach.

Good stuff: for a web novel trying to do the writeathon, I'd say the grammar is top notch. The world building is solid- the reader gets bits and pieces at a time, and you get the feeling they build an interesting puzzle.
The characters are great. You learn about them both from the inside of their head and from what the other characters think about them.
One thing that might bother people is that the chapters vary significantly in size. Six's chapters, I think, are the longest, One's are the shortest. This may be a consequence of the plot, Six has a lot more going on. Or wanting to avoid lingering on bad stuff happening to One.
So, check it out, and read at least the first 6 chapters!

There are interesting characters here, with interesting troubles, and interesting challenges to come.
The premise of this story is that a group of military deserters (and destruction magic users) are trying to find a place for themselves in a fantasy world. Many of these deserters are treated as an individual chapter. They are not together, they are all doing their own thing, all trying to blend in with normal people who don’t know that these destructive and powerful mages are among them. Will they be found out? Will they be dragged off to the evil kingdom to be used in whatever dastardly fate the kingdom planned?
Epic-ness is coming. I guess. Sadly, I’m too impatient to keep reading.
One side effect of George R.R. Martin’s writing is that he can introduce a character and leave us hanging at just the right moment to make us want to read more.  Then, he flits off to another character that is just as interesting, and we patiently read about them and get invested in an entirely new story.  Each chapter a successful cliffhanger. Each story independently captivating. This doesn’t do that, but it’s a very earnest attempt to match his work.  Perhaps with editing, it could get there. Or maybe, just tell one of these stories at a time?
It is a shame, however, that there are no reviews of this work, because I’m sure there would be readers who will like it very much.
