Description
Be careful what you wish for. Jade has spent her life fighting boredom in the terminally ill ward by surfing the net and envying the ability and energy of others to go out and live. So when she wakes up with a weak, but healthy body in a magical world with blue game-like system notifications filling her vision, she'll have to adapt quickly in order to survive. Thankfully, she has a bit of luck and an ability that will let her reach for the stars.
This is Andara, where her adventure finally truly begins.

- toddRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have to admit, I'm a little confused at what seems to drive reviewers on RoyalRoad. The sheer number of reviews complaining that Jade is an overpowered MC, when so many of the best-rated stories have heaps of reviews praising them for their overpowered "but in a good way" MC. Not to mention that the actual power growth is done in drips and drabs over time as a wildly excited girl gets to explore a world for the first time in her life.
Griping aside, Siphon is a series built around a girl that had spent her life confined to a hospital bed, waking up in a brand new world of magic and mystery. Her personality is a breath of fresh air, similar to Delta in There is no Epic Loot here, Only Puns, in that she has very simple desires to be happy and help her friends and that sense of raw enthusiasm carries through incredibly well. It's more of a slice-of-life adventure than the usual confrontation with brutality and focuses heavily on the simple excitement of learning magic as well as learning how to bring some of the magic of home (Earth) to life there. Unlike many similar concepts, the people are generally decent, the character isn't randomly picked on and forced to show off their "MC powers" and best of all, there are no scenes of side characters looking on from the distance as they quietly whisper the MC's name in awe whenever they do MC things. Jade also behaves like an actual human being, and the sort of human that we all like to know. Kind, sweet, somewhat naive, but almost always looking to make things better.
Style: The author's prose is smooth and easy to read, without awkward phrasing or unclear sentences that plague a lot of RR stories. I'm not sure how much editing is done from the RR draft to publishing on Amazon (I found and read the first two books on Kindle Unlimited), but I found the formatting to be pleasant. Notably, the litrpg screens are formatted cleanly and consistently, which is is nice considering how unwieldy they can get in other stories.
Gramma - BlackWingRegRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've gone up through chapter 33, and I'm loving this.
The MC is adorable, sweet and joyful in addition to being competent. It's a very nice change from a lot of the MCs being misanthropic loners. But at the same time, she has her down moments, and there are moments of very real danger. Not everyone likes her right away, or in some cases at all, and she's okay with that.
This is also very well written with nary a typo or akward turn of phrase to be found. - Nicolette RaoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love this series! I've been following it ever since the first book came out. The MC is so powerful! More than that, you really like her and her companions. I'm so excited to see what happens next! I have a bunch of theories, none of which I'll share here because of spoilers. I can't wait for the next book!

Consider reading if you haven't.
Thanketh yee fer the novel. - Royalty723Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thank you for this roller coaster ride of a story
- The RamRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Chapter 18 at this point....
Let me tell you, this is the greatest thing since garlic bread!
A really happy-go-lucky mc who makes you warm inside at her simply being over the moon for walking, a nice touch of OP-ness that while not too pronounced yet, isn't over the top either....I like it anyway.
Seriously though.....she's so cute and cuddly...I feel like skipping right now from her being so happy! Keep this up.
Grammar's great too! Always a nice plus. Keep this up author! - bradyman50Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is now one of my favorite books. I found it on amazon and loved it, and I am extremely excited that its here as well, because I needed to keep reading. This is actually the second book this week that I've checked obsessively for updates on amazon, before finding it here.
My one issue is that there are a few times where some names get switched around. Brodie and Brad both get confused with Brady at least once. It happens in a chapter thats only on amazon now, but I still had to say it. - sherzuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don't write review when i give 5 stars to a story, but i saw harsh reviews. I thought someone should put a bit of postive in here.
Your story is great keep hard work!
Yes, she has an easy time for now. She's well protected by the royal family. Syphon is OP., it's normal magic is easy for her. Difficulties would come with the hunt, and when she is exposed, outside of the royal family influence. I forsaw it in the trails left by the author in his work (i may be wrong). - Anthony PeersRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a pretty amazing first story and a darn good LitRPG story in its own right, first or otherwise. Our MC, Jade, gets pulled off as she dies to a magical world that runs on stats and points and menu prompts, and discovers she has a unique power that makes her a Chosen One in this world. Pretty standard fare, right? Except that Jade is nothing like your typical isekai protagonist.
Afflicted with a crippling disease, Jade has spent basically her entire life in a hospital and has very little in the way of life experience. Newly liberated from her condition as a part of being reborn in a new world, even things as simple as the freedom to walk around unaided are completely new experiences to her. (At one point she actually develops the Walking skill, which those around her find quite odd; who needs a Skill for that?) Jade discovers that she has the ability to "siphon" attribute points and skill experience from anyone she touches, allowing her to build up her withered body to a normal standard and then beyond, to progress in stats extremely quickly and seemingly without limits. Unfortunately, this power also draws the attention of monsters that prey on humanity, particularly when she begins to actively resist them, laying the foundation for the central conflict of the series.
After a very strong start, the second book suffers a bit, with Jade ticking pretty much every box on the Mary Sue checklist. (Stuningly beautiful, effortlessly good at everything even if it's considered impossible in-world, attractive people falling for her left and right, easily able to persuade people to see things her way, etc.) But it does get better as the series (and Jay's skill at writing) progresses, and the 4th book is straight-up amazing! The story is definitely worth a look, and stick around through the rough parts. It's worth it. - edgolubRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Chapter 25 - Review so far
The story starts of very interesting, and the writing is pretty great. It is a light read with not too heavy themes involved. The MC basically is in a fantasy world, and has a lot of wish-fullfilment going on.
The world building is really great so far. Nice descriptions, cool magic descriptions, though I prefer a bit more detailed magic system instead of the wish-system the MC has going on. So far we've seen some nice things about the capital. Though I would like to know more about the capital and country in general, currently we have this Diagon Alley view going on, but really anything aside from it, other than the castle and academy.
The character interactions are kinda bland though, while interesting, there are a lot of people she meets, and none of them are getting much time to get properly developed so far. There is more than enough time, since the chapters are short and it has only been 2-3 days since she got here, so I'm looking forward to it.
I recommend looking into writing it from the MCs point of view but to not actually write every detail she sees. Like feel free to skip stuff like her buying stuff at a bakery. Kinda hard to understand fantasy-world food. On the other hand, how magic works would be a lot better to know. I love the science parallels she has pulled so far, those are great.
Grammar is pretty good, and the overall writing style is nice too. No complains on either end in general.
Last: Big recommendation as a light fantasy read.
