GAME OVER. AND OVER. AND OVER.

Falling from grace leaves a mark, even in virtual reality. No one knows that better than Mitch Mantock, an ex-gaming phenom now scraping by in the back alleys of Skirmish, the most popular VR game in the world. When his mentor reveals that Mitch's old team—a ragtag band of gamers with more baggage than bullets—has vanished, Mitch knows he's their only chance to get back alive. Now, all he has to do is track down his old teammates in a series of unknown virtual worlds, defeat an undefeatable artificial intelligence program, and find his way home in one piece. No big deal.SIDE QUEST is READY PLAYER ONE meets GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, a sci-fi romp that follows our hero as he fights, sneaks, and bargains his way back home through a collection of game worlds, blasting digital zombie cowboys with one hand while trying to keep his old team together with the other, no matter what it takes.

This is a decent read, has a lot going for the plot, and mc.  The writing style is great. The Mc has enough depth to set a partial backstory, but not infodump his hostory.  The world setting is just enough with space for suprises.  Also, the vr world can take on a variety of styles which most stories get boxed into one style.
    I want to read more.

This piece of writing keeps me wanting more. The characters for the most part are all very well (Created? Made?); the characters are not just blank filler-type characters. OVerall this is a great story, especially  you like video games and VR type stories.

I've been looking for good stories for a long time, but this tops some of the best works out there in Royal Road. Clean cut, with no grammar or character msitakes found. It's an original plot, too. Get this published, it'll make you good money.
Only thing I find a slight problem in is the intro. Compress the introduction into two chapters if you can. And it doesn't make any sense for Mitch to suddenly drop out of his team. Add some trauma into it.

    OVERALL SCORE:
    STYLE SCORE:
I liked it dont really know why but I just thought it was nice(not really good at this part).
Grammar good no obvious flaws a couple of spelling mistakes here and there, it could be improved upon.
    Characters:
I liked the MC(Mitch) and I liked the main antagonist. I like Chu a lot the most, I found dozer kind of annoying at times. What personally held me back from really liking most of the characters were a proper backstory it would be cool if you could include like a side story chapter which basicly just gives some more background information. The people he was instructing at the begining were kind of unnecesary in the entire context of the story it was necessary but, I just didnt know the at all or feel for them at all. Most of the characters were kind of flat or unnecessary. (3/5)
    STORY SCORE:
I really like the story the i.dea is original a rogue AI going around and creating new worlds perfecting his craft. All the while trying to get back to the main world, the amount of interaction we saw between all the characters were sufficient I would have like a couple of flashbacks so as I said earlier you could get a little more involved with them and feel with and for them. You could not really root for one of the characters.
NOTE: I would love the read a story with the main antagonist as protagonist and seeing him learn how to create the worlds and get better and seeing him erfect his craft. I think a prequel would also be interesting the MCS time struggeling to the top with his team.
