Description
Aliens learn that their new human allies have a strange quirk when it comes to interacting with their ships, whether they're sailing on an ocean or through the void of space. Humans anthropomorphize ships, and invariably use feminine pronouns for them. Surely it would benefit their scary (but highly-valued) human friends if the ships were actually women to some extent? Surely that would be entirely harmless with no awkward, dangerous, spooky, or madcap complications, yes?

These aliens are well described, but... how does one hug the chitinous? Full-on Doctor-Who, Joe-Hill short story shudder, on my part. But this story is told from an original perspective. Our human wet, protective sheen from stress (sweat) may gross the aliens out, and they require counselling after dealing with us. I just have NO idea what will happen next. And that's a good thing. I just wish the dude would stop referring to the ship as "she." I've got a bad, bad feeling about that...
