- Silas_TineRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I know William Reigns in real life and participated in the beta reading process.
This is a great story with complex characters, conflicted motivations, and multiple layers of opposition. William says there’s humor sprinkled throughout, but I found many moments outright hilarious—just wait until you get to the part where he chooses his sword.
I appreciate William's easy-to-read, straightforward writing style. The prose is clear and direct, making the story flow smoothly without unnecessary complexity.
I’m not sure if this has been copy-edited, but there weren’t any egregious typos or sentences that pulled me out of the story.
The world is a unique blend of familiar and fantastical elements. I especially appreciate how everyday tech like ATVs and dirt bikes coexists with sci-fi and arcane aspects—laser guns, sky skimmers, and evil warlocks—all within the same realm. The LitRPG elements make the power system easy to understand and progress feel tangible.
One of my favorite aspects of this book is how believable and relatable Elion is as a protagonist. He starts off as a fairly typical teenage boy—alien origins aside—but his decisions feel logical, leading to earned, gradual character growth rather than an overpowered fantasy.
I’m looking forward to book two and will definitely be following along in the future!
