Description

A life of slavery is not an option. Not for Shadow. With the help of a wizard, he and other refugees can cross the Barrier and escape the teeth of lizardfolk. But when the operation fails and Shadow is caged in the Fortress of Stahl, he must find a way to escape before he is sold to the highest bidder. Something stirs within him, is it rage...or something more powerful? Regardless, Shadow is not afraid to die freeing himself, because death is a better alternative to a life in chains.

Author’s NotesThis story is the last in a series of three connected novelettes that introduce characters of a larger epic [WIP]. Each story can be enjoyed on its own, but I recommend reading them in order for the best experience.

The vibe of this story is different from the previous two. We jump right into the action, it's darker and the stakes are higher.
This is a tale of a quest for freedom that won't be easily obtained.
I'm curious to discover more about the young hero Shadow. I'm sure his personality will drive the adventure in interesting directions. I really like it so far and I'll be eagerly waiting for the notification telling me new chapters have been published
Update after reading:
Shadow is a great character and I loved the themes explored in this story. It's the third story I read with these young feline heroes and it keeps getting better. I'm looking forward to more stories in this world.
