- readwormRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an easy-to-follow story about a young man who finds himself at odds with his fate and works hard to turn the tides in his favor. So far, reading this story has been a breeze; there aren't too many plot twists or complex narrations in the chapters I've read.
I haven't come across many grammar errors or typos either, and the author keeps the story interesting. Currently, the main character is just figuring things out, so I expect it'll take some time for him to get to know the world around him. However, the story is just starting, and I can't wait to see how it progresses.
The protagonist quickly adapts to the situation and is, so far, a likable character. I'd love to see him interact and team up with more characters, develop friendships, and take on interesting quests. As the story unfolds, I hope to witness more character growth and how the main character's interactions with others shape both the story and his personality. Additionally, I would love to see more world-building to help me construct a vivid mental image of the scenes.
I wish the author all the best and look forward to reading many more stories written by him. - DickfingersRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Bro is literally a caveman doinking mobs with a dagger. Getting vibes like Primal Hunter and Awaken Online from the writing style, and definitely has that MelasD flavor. If you like anything written by MelasD, Zogarth, or Travis Bagwell, I'd say give this a read. Seems pretty good so far.
- TC_Liyanage1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I liked the story so far. I'm still in chapter 14, and there's already a lot of things happening. This story deserves 5 stars because-- well, read and see for yourself.
Anyways, this says that to submit this review it should be 200 words, so I'll get to it.
The writing style and the story style kept me engaged when I started to read because it was an easy but exciting read. The writing style is easy to grasp and it makes the story easy to enjoy. The progress of the story so far has been steady, and there have been quite some moments where I went, "What?!" (and that's a good thing). The grammar has little to no errors, so kudos, author if you are reading this.
Seth has lots of potential to have character development. And the other characters are well fleshed out, unlike some books where everyone is the same.
I think there's a lot of room for potential both writing-wise and story-wise because whenever I read a book, I can't help but overly criticize the writing style (yes, I'm a picky reader, because execution is everything in my opinion), and well, I’ll be waiting for more chapters. Thank you for writing this, keep going! - Wander NatamaruRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read up to Chapter 11, and this is a great example of what to do in LitRPG. Complete with numbers going up and level system, this sets a great precedent in Seth's rise in the abyss.
Style:
Short, sweet, and to the point. Leaves room for imagination and makes the fight scenes more visceral. I enjoyed the action throughout the chapters I've read.
Grammar:
Nothing that posed a major problem or affected my reading.
Story:
This story is quite simple and easy to follow, with Seth being isekai'd into the depths of chasms and the underground, forcing him to survive in the dark with his rogue class--Assassin. Mystery within the world and his place in it keep me clicking the next chapter button.
Character:
Well, Seth so far has a backstory and immediately drops it as soon as he's transported to the other world, but the characterization of him quickly adapting and his reactions to seeing other humans solidifies his character.
Overall, I believe that this is a story worth reading from the very few chapters I've read. It's easy to read, you get some entertainment, a bang for your buck. Do not sleep on this one, this author will surely continue to blow your mind! - ZenOpRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"Seth the Abyssal Assassin" immerses readers in a gripping LitRPG isekai fantasy. With a protagonist navigating an abyssal realm, the novel promises an enthralling journey of skill progression, interdimensional challenges, and a fusion of gaming elements. A thrilling read for fans of the LitRPG and isekai genres should give a try.
- HideousGrainRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall the story is quite decent. There are no major flaws yet, but I have to acknowledge that I haven't read everything yet. The story is rather simple but that has also a certain charm. It focuses on combat, which is something I like very much. The pace is somewhat slow yet also fast. The protagonist levels up very fast and gains new abilities fairly quickly. I will continue reading now. Bye!
- Reader1587Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reviewing this after reading chapter 8. Still at the beginning of the story, but so far it is a quick and easy LitRPG read about a rogue character developing in a hostile unknown territory. No big surprises or hidden agendas here so far, just motivation to survive at all the cost. The protagonist has definitely been pushing his luck quite a few times and I hope he won't develop plot armor later on. Definitely looking forward to seeing how he will perform if he teams up with some natives. So far, the survival mode has worked all right for the story, so I am curious how he will handle his first mission, which will be different from what he has done until now. I wish good luck to the new author and hope he will continue to write.
- Easton MulhollandRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0So far, the story is snappy, with lots of action and dungeon delving goodies. This is, undoubtedly, a weak to strong MC story with a driven protagonist. I’ve made it through the first mini-arc, and our hero is appropriately heroic, and so far has been assassinating monsters (not people). There’s plenty of plot mysteries to keep you interested; the theme being why and how is our MC here. Not necessarily a particularly original story so far, but executed well with a fast-paced style.
I look forward to more. - MangosdadRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This story is a nice first attempt, but unfortunately a missed opportunity. I have read till chapter 19, and decided to drop it. Below are my review as a thank you to author. Spoiler alert!!!!
The story is easy to follow, but perhaps because there is not much to follow. The world building is weak, the author show us the scenery, monster but not much else. The MC is a typical gen Z, he is so average, unoriginal in thought, unresourceful to a pathetic level. For an easy comparision, reading the story feels like watching a mute streaming a very general RPG, playing in the most straightforward kinda way, no exploration, no experiment, no testing, no explanation, no nothing. MC is a rouge, so he goes stabing things on their backs and that's it, for a few weeks. As unimaginative as I am, I would like him to try making traps, making maps, using environmental elements better, explore his system stat wise (if MC is so lazy that he refuse to understand his stats, maybe author should not include them in the novel in the first place, just say "MC get stronger through mystical " and all is cool) and many other things. Beside missing his wife, not much is fleshed out for his character, so he is a normal person I guess, but not that interesting or likable to care/follow his story. With such a weak character and weak world-building, the story is meh, a dime a dozen, hence the average score I gave it as well as my decision to drop it. For improvement idea, craft MC as a tentative person put into a dangerous place, so he goes around steathily and observe stuff carefully. Now you have the space to flesh out the mobs, their behavior, habitats, needs, foods... instead of just their appearances. The MC should win because he puts in the work, preparations, rather than because he goes around stabbing thing like a 5 years old and got lucky because things die before he does. In good games like Assassin Creed, rouge is cool because all the setups they make before the kill, your MC can change - AsinineAardvarkRoyal Road★★ 1.5The first section of this story starts off with a hiss and a roar with the main character suffering from being a fish out of water and having to adapt to a strange new world.
He rapidly adjusts and levels with solid goals and avoids some overdone tropes.
Unfortunately once the first section is finished there is a brief intermission where it starts to stall out, but maintains most of its quality until the issues are resolved.
The problems happen for the most recent arc's where the main character has been getting pulled back and forward like he is a yo-yo. The dialog has suffered as well.
At this stage he is acting without any rational thought, following along with nebulous plans that seem held together by a thread and it is dragging.
