- ScarecroRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first 2 chapters are enough to warrant a 5 imo. Will adjust later if appropriate.
Update (ch 52): 7 stars somehow. Seriously - librarysmilesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.01) Who: main character gets reincarnated into a fantasy world.
2) Why: the main character's goal is to reach his original family
4) How: the usual trope of getting stronger to reach higher realms
5) What: Finally a "cultivation" novel without a murder hobo main character! As a genre savvy man, the focus is on whom is important rather than the "dao"
5) Whom: The main character's new family has an older brother and a younger sister. He helps his bread baking genius mother reunite with his maternal grandfather. Did I mention that he has a fiancee and winds up working with various women including those in his created martial arts clan?
6) When: Caution: There are definitely long flashbacks at times. The story stalled for a few months on the main character's brother's flashback and might have stalled again. (In my opinon, it's still easy to pick up the story again without re-reading.)
7) How much: There is definite improvement between how this novel used to start and how it starts now. I can now, conscience free, definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys "cultivation" novels. - EleMentalPhoenixRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A common beginning with uncommon twists brings us a rare story with unique characters for a legendary experience.
The Overcoming Unmeasurable Distance Technique will continue to provide assistance in supporting this. - Jangofet54Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is honestly the best novel of wuxia I've ever read. The characters are relatable and humorous, the world is increadibly vivid. It would be a diservice of me to not reccomend this novel.
Author if you don't finish this novel I will hunt you down and chain you to a computer. - ValentineNRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The MC starts off as a chuuni on regular Earth then gets transmigrated somewhere else.
Things pick off slowly after that hitting full speed after the third party member joins him.
I'm not going to spoil it further, but it's funny and breaks many cliques of this cultivation genre in a clean and refreshing way.
PS some interactions remind me a lot of that slice-of-life anime with three sisters, I forget the name. - romiovictor123Royal Road★★★★ 3.5I usually do not review stories, but seeing as many of the top reviews were very old I decided to make a review. Do not take this review too much into heart because this is my opinion after all.
This story starts off as an amazing comedic read about the MC actually using his other-worldy knowledge in the Xianxia world. With his previous knowledge he can create some of the funniest scenarios you will ever see in any story.
I would highly reccomend reading this stoy, until the end of the first arc or chapter 20 because of how good it was. After that it is your choice (not like it ever was mine).
Now for the bad parts.
Spoiler: Spoiler
The MC has a mission to find 9 disciples and "ascend". He finds disciples by looking for certain auras. This creates a plot point where we meet many one-deimensional chacracter that we will forget immedetely. I feel like the author should tone down the amount of aura characters.
Then comes arcs after the first one. For some reason the MC's brother leaves the scene entirely for 50+ chapters to go into a different sect. After those chapters we now have to listen to the brothers story in the other sect with a bunch of one-dimensional characters.
The author even said there will be a lot more to the MC's brother flashback so don't except a lot of new plot in the coming chapters.
Overall the story started very nicely, but then degraded into Xianxia trash. I believe the author could imporve by having less people with the special aura in the upcoming chapters and decreasing the length of flashbacks. - BerjRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The novel starts in a good way, there's interesting stuff to read, and it's a lot funny to see the MC talking about all the tropes and cliches from the genre. The pace a the start altho is slow, is good and overall it feels a good read, until it doesn't anymore.
Spoiler: Spoiler
It starts after the MC leaves the sec on a mission to find 9 other disciples and we discover he's a sociopath in disguise.
After the events described on the spoiler, the novel keeps the balace for a few chapters, but then it starts to feel the author does't know that to write anymore and starts to deviate from the parody, to join it.
The characters introduced doesn't have any depth, the conversations aren't logical anymore, there's a lot of unecessary stuff, filler added which makes it feel the author didn't know what to write about, but wanted to bring out a chapter anyway.
The quest, which at start seemed to be something a short intermission to show the other side of the MC, feels like it has been running for more time than rest of the history, without adding too much to the novel.
It just doesn't feel like the same history anymore. What was supposed to be a funny history about xanxia and cultivation, has instead become the same thing it was mocking. - mdbobRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Honestly felt a bit betrayed and disappointed. The first 3 chapters got me hooked.
But it basically turned out to be an OP MC with an oversized harem. (Which the author made distinctly clear that this would not be)
Sigh. - NeoMareRoyal Road★ 0.5This was perhaps one of the best stories I read and then it all went to hell. What happened? Why give the MC a harem when said MC is a CHILD? Why wash out the female leads and leave them without personality? Just why?
- Dudz_DNARoyal Road★ 0.5OK so I've read only half a chapter. Maybe it's gets better. Maybe when he gets isekaid god fixes the MC and cures him of all mental health issues.
BUT wtf the MC has a mental disability. Whilst there is nothing wrong with a novel with an MC that is disabled, I feel like it should be mentioned somewhere. Example in the synopsis would be: a mentally ill man was kidnapped and sent to another world.
For anyone who disagrees, the MC is around 22 23, and yet has 12 grade syndrome. At 23. He was also home schooled because he (not sure wasn't explained too clearly) effectively couldn't adapt to normal school.
AGAIN there's nothing wrong with mental illness etc but I would have appreciated a heads up somewhere.
As for why I gave it such a low score, When I read books I like putting myself in the MC shoes. Call it escapism from my mundane life but an MC has to be someone that I would not mind being or want to be to some extent. I have no interest in putting myself in a mentally ill persons shoes so yeh not for me.
Bl and yaoi novel's have tags, female MC has tags, gender bender and gore all have tags. So I know OK that's not for me, move on. No need to rate it badly or anything. This novel is essentially unreadable for me. And I read it. Part of it. And it fails. Couldn't even get me to read 1 chapter fully. That's why the low score. Worst part is I really liked the premise of the novel..
