- JRPseudonymRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So, first order of business. I like this, I'll keep reading this, but this story reads... it's reads as though there's a lot going on. A lot of weight here. On the surface, a simple enough industrial fantasy story with some very powerful supernatural events, magic, and so on. But there is a constant tug deeper, a feeling that there's weight here, there's meaning under the light story to be teased out. The author is trying to say something, something important to them, and using the medium of this story to do it.
Again, this is not a bad story. It's well written, and the characters are interesting, the scenes and drama are engaging, but there's that constant undertow, the feeling that I'm not quite getting all the meaning I should that I'm not sure how to react to, except to say that I will be following this one to it's conclusion.
