Description
Scribble: A Day in the Life of a [Scrivener]; Vol. 1, completed March 3rd, 2025. (approx. 130,000 words) The story has gone through one edit, but that doesn't mean I didn't miss something. I welcome any comments and feedback!
Scribble: An [Ink]ling of Success; Vol. 2, beginning March 18th, 2025.
A Day in the Life:
Jasper “Book” Bookmyer was working to earn his Master's in Creative Writing at the University of Colorado. One evening when coming home from Trivia Night at the local bar with his friends, Book and company decided to take a shortcut, because what could happen? They find out when they are abducted by aliens that look eerily like fantasy Orcs. Experimented on and implanted with strange tech, they escape and portal down to a planet inhabited by Elves and ruled by magic.
This story is about what happens after that, with Book and his best friend, Tess, striving to navigate their new life as bioengineered Elves. Helping him, if he can figure out the nuances, is a network of implants that let him tap into the natural magic of Planet EH-103. This help comes in the form of a (possibly faulty) AI, complete with a HUD, floating text boxes,[Class]es,[Level]s,[hotkey]s, and lots of[bracket]s. And the AI might be evolving sapience. No troubles there, right?
We follow Book as he becomes a[Scrivener], creating and selling unique magic scrolls. His college studies were finally put to practical use(//Practical magic?*Sigh*//). Imagine! We see a slice of his life, interspersed with scattered scenes of intense action and violence. After all, the Space Orcs are still out there!
[Ink]ling of Success:
Now, a war looms on the horizon and our intrepid adventurers race to prepare for the Festival of Trials, where they compete to claim one of the coveted Guild Team positions. Why? To avoid being conscripted into the Matriarch's Grand Army as a bunch of grunts, why else?
Nothing could possibly go wrong.
What to Expect:
-Litrpg with a system unique to characters
-Progression, weak to strong
-Portal/Isekai via Alien Abduction
-Mostly Slice-of-Life, interspersed with moments of intense violence and chaos.
-Light romance (you have been warned!)
-And did I mention... Space Orcs!
Updates Mon-Wed-Fri,-ish, MST
Spur of the moment (Unicorn sightings) bonus chapters!

- Elemental1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Here are a few reasons why I like this story:
* The characters are well thought out, relatable, and with clear personalities.
* The magic system is novel and interesting.
* While I'm only a few chapters in, the writing is interesting and has held my interest throughout the story.
* The writing is polished and at a level I would expect of a professional writer (no errors, clear in intent and well-constructed).
Highly recommended! - ThinkzalotRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is full of life. I love the characters, although the MCs AI can be a bit woke-annoying. I genuinely enjoy the story so far, and the authors humour is similar to mine, so I am often left chortling at the snarky banter. I recommend it to those who enjoyed Mark of the Fool. It has slice of life, crafting, and some great moments of action and drama.

Scribble, A Day in the Life of a Scrivener is a great choice for readers who enjoy:
Lighthearted, humorous isekai stories.
Slice-of-life narratives with a fantastical twist.
Unique premises and creative world-building.
While the story has some minor issues, its strengths—particularly its unique premise and humorous tone—make it a fun and engaging read. - NotPhoebeeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The thing that stands out the most in this story for me was the protagonist, Jasper. He has a strong voice and is very funny, which makes reading from his pov entertaining. Even things that would seem mundane come to life through the way this character describes and interacts with them!
I also quite liked the story itself. As a genre, isekai isn't my favorite thing ever, but this story is very unique and is told very well.
I'd recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy and is looking for a fresh take on such a popular genre! And kudos to the author for crafting such an excellent story!!
