Save the Cat, Save the World!

Description
Isaac Abrahamson had a dream—or perhaps a fever dream. How else could he explain the strange screenplay that appeared overnight? Isaac has never written a script before and has no memory of writing this one, yet it’s in his handwriting. And why would he write a movie about a cat? He doesn’t even like cats!
The plot thickens when Isaac spots the very same cat from his dream on a missing pet poster. Seeking answers, he embarks on a quest to find the lost feline, unaware that his search will turn his whole world upside down. Because this isn’t just any cat. This cat is the key to unraveling a cosmic conspiracy that stretches from the shadowy depths of Los Angeles’ Metro tunnels to the hills of Hollywood, and even to the stars beyond.
It’s a race to find the cat and Isaac is up against a psychotic psychic, a ruthless movie producer, and a cabal of Nazi occultists. Time is running out, but help comes to Isaac from an unlikely pair of allies: a crass life coach with a penchant for chaos and the last scion of Christ.
With every twist and turn in the mystery, Isaac realizes his cryptic screenplay is more than just a figment of his imagination. It’s a prophecy, one that will guide him on a mission to prevent the apocalypse. As fact and fiction collide, Isaac must confront a terrifying question: is he the author of his fate or merely an actor in someone else’s story? Either way, one thing is certain: if he can’t find this cat, it’s curtains for everyone.

- BIGREDDOGRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly hard to believe this book isn't published and on shelves in every Barnes and Noble and your favorite airport. It’s witty, intricately plotted, the characters are hilarious, and the story is both out of this world but relevant at the same time, you can tell the author is pretty talented.
Could definitely see this as a cult classic with its "Under The Silver Lake" absurdity and gumshoe sleuth conspiracy vibes. And the way the author intimately references the city of LA is worth the read alone - juxtaposing its harder, grimier side (even making the town's "June gloom" a character in its own right) against Beverly Hills, the city's rich historical landmarks, the glamor of Hollywood, powerful media moguls, glorified food joints, etc. I've lived in LA for a while now and I have thoroughly enjoyed the author’s portrait of the city, for whatever that’s worth.
But maybe the most fun part about this book is all the little witticisms and references, almost exclusively of 90's and early 2000's pop culture, which all seem to work perfectly within the narrative and never feeling like they’re shoehorned. Worth a couple good amused chuckles while reading. Obviously, I've enjoyed the book so far, but if you were a kid in the 90's, or even lived through the decade, I would recommend this book with the weight of 5 out of 5 stars, plus a solemn encouraging nod. - Gus WhitehallRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This might not be for everybody, but the best things usually aren't. The story and tone are unlike the vast majority of stuff you see on Royal Road, but I see a lot of potential for this story to gain a cult following. I'm interested to see where the story goes from here.
- ThrillianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Multiple times as I read this, I wondered why this hadn't been picked up and turned into a rather surreal bestselling novel.
The web fiction follows the bland and unassuming Issac Abrahamson as his life is quickly shattered, first by a dream and then by Isaac being sorted into Slytherin (in this world, Harry Potter psychology is all the rage). Soon, Isaac is on an all-encompassing mission to, well, save the cat.
The web fiction takes its cues from equal parts pop culture as well as Blake Synder's seminal "Save the Cat" book. But beyond that, it's just laugh-out-loud runny, with satirical jabs at everything from the aforementioned Harry Potter to vampires and the Illuminati.
Isaac makes a fun character because he starts out rather bland, but continues to excite as makes interesting (read: questionable) decisions which propel the story forward. He's joined by an equally eclectic (read: odd) assortment of characters which further give this story weight.
The style is also extremely effective, mixing a satirical tone with rapid-fire humor and some madcap adventure along the way.
The final product is completely unique, coming off as "Get Shorty" meets "A Hitchhiker's Guide the Galaxy", making it an unpredictable and hilarious masterpiece.
