I'm neither a Litrpg enthusiast nor do I gravitate to military stories, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story.
The typical plot structure of humanity being invaded by monsters from beyond and forced to partake in a system based on basic gaming principles is flipped on its head with pretty much all the governments having been aware of that threat for a long time, which allowed them to prepare for that crisis accordingly and even becoming familiar with the gaming system, which serves to be the tool to assist in their survival. On that note, I must say that the power system at play here was, without a doubt, my favourite part yet. It's incredibly intricate, and it's clear that the author put a lot of thought into it. It was exciting to read about the powers given to each human who gains access to the system, the rules set in play, and how the military has adapted to them. Add in the fantasy world clashing with humans and the political tension between nations that must stand together to keep up appearances with potential schemes hiding in every corner, and the protagonist Matt, a soldier and loyal patriot to his country, is thrust into this mess with his strong desire to protect humanity. You will have a delightful read! I highly recommend this story!

As someone who actually served in the military (Navy), seeing FPCON Delta in chapter one of a story on Royal Road of all places was something I enjoyed. I’ve seen a couple medieval style military stories which are good, and some modern ones where the blend of accurate miliary vernacular and typical fantasy elements and lingo seem to get lost in the story.
This story seemingly does a great job of blending the two. Keeping the reader fully immersed without the losing sight of what it means to follow a character who is in the military.
Speaking of the characters, the early interactions definitely remind me of some of my own firsthand experiences in the military which definitely helps keep up with the immersion.
Some of the things that I noticed though were the lack of some light explanation sometimes, it is seemingly expected for the reader to fill in the blanks in some places, nothing too big and it is a technique that I use myself, but I think a little more information here and there would go a long way!
All in all, I think it’s a great story that I plan on following along and I can’t wait to see how far this story goes!

This story has a lot of potential and grabs your attention right from the start. It reminded me of so many things, from Top Gun and Code Geass to mecha-themed anime and tactical army shows, mixed with a hint of the typical LitRPG vibe. It blends all those elements together and pulls out the best qualities from each.
The characters, especially the main one, are well-developed and relatable, with clear motivations that drive them. The dialogue really makes their personalities stand out, adding a lot to the story’s charm.
The writing style is easy to follow, which helps keep the momentum during the action-packed scenes. Sometimes, though, the descriptions could be a little shorter, as they occasionally slow things down. The grammar and punctuation are mostly solid, with just a few small errors, but nothing major.
The story kicks off with a strong action scene paired with well-timed banter between the characters, pulling you in while delivering background info without disrupting the flow.
Overall, it’s a fun read with a lot of creativity, and if you’re into stories with a blend of futuristic tech and mystical elements, you’ll enjoy this one. It's definitely worth sticking with to see how everything unfolds!

Okay, this story is pretty killer!  Detailed, thoughtful, feels authentic.  Rad as hell.  Let's get into it!
Style: Action flows, prose is detailed but not flowery, it does everything you want from a story that focuses on action and worldbuilding.  Does it's best to give you the information you need, then get out of the way and let the action carry you. Distinct, but not showy.  Very good.
Grammar: Author is writing fast, really fast, so this area could use a little but of improvement.  Nothing hinders the reading experience.  Passing grade.
Story: This is where things shine the most.  If I could have added a sixth star I would have.  If it was all just good action, it would only be passable.  But the story behind the action is engrossing!  Each character is well used to give us a different window into the story and the system is well thought out and has teeth.  The system also pushes the story and the story the system.  It doesn't feel like any one element was tacked on to check a box.  Everything is carefully considered.  I'm a little dubious on the way romance is handled but this is clearly an action-military-thriller-litrpg and not a romance.  If you like any one of those four things you will love this.
Character:  Well realized and fleshed out.  There are half a dozen characters and each is interesting and distinct.  Some writers have a hard time writing 'military types' without making them all caricatures or flat 'tough guys.'  Jedi82 remembers that military people are just people, as varied and bizarre as any one of us. My one complaint is that a lot of dialogue can feel very 'first pass,' like it conveys the information it needs to without carrying all the character it could.  But that could be said of just about any one of us.  None of us are Aaron Sorkin out here.
Overall: Very few people are out here on RR doing it like Jedi82.  If you want modern military litRPG, I don't think you could find better.  Adrenaline junkies, click that follow button!

An epic military-adventure yet to be enjoyed. Rectify this by reading at least the first few chapters of this fiction.
Style: The style is easy to get behind. Dialogue is present throughout the story advancing it when the plot dies down. Description is not overly lengthy or overly short. It hits, instead, a decent place between. Action is present and pre-dominant. As any good action-forward style should, the 'highs' alternate with the 'lulls.' Blue boxes dot most chapters (one or two per chapter from what I've seen). Boxes tend to not be overly detailed, though some appearances can make up for others lack of detail by being heavy on detail. *Shrugs* ...I don't mind it. It never gets in the way of enjoying the chapters. In short, author's prose is solid.
Grammar: Some issues with grammar as present, mostly, with tense-shifting. Filler words are a minor issue, but I feel many filler words only come from the aforementioned issue with tense. I want to be clear -- these issues are minor. Such issues are also common to any new writer. With revision and editing, these issues will resolve. I do not judge heavily on grammar.
Story: Begins with Earth's military forces defending against an incursion by an ice-witch; there is action mixed with worldbuilding as we learn more about Earth, a secret mission to a tower, and how -- at that tower -- Humanity learned of the System and an Originator race of aliens which created the System; we learn soon after how 'invasion day' is also the day where Earth is integrated into the System. So, it is a dog-eat-dog universe out there. Once the battle with ice-witch ends, we learn about attribute points and a little bit about how totalizing the System is for people who have participated within. These scenes are interesting to see unfurl and keep the reader on their toes. I, like anyone, can only get such an appreciation of the slowly unfolding story by reading the first handful of chapters, but everything I read advanced the story with forcefu

As of writing this, ive read up to chapter 6.
The premise starts quick and the formating is clean. Given that this is portal fantasy, I like it very much.
Reading this gave me the vibe of Outbreak Company, which is a novel I once read and liked.
For those who like portal fantasy, and also a tinge of military, this story should suit your interests.

Style: I was initially thrown off a bit by all of the military terms and acronyms that I wasn't familiar with, but it didn't end up hampering my enjoyment/understanding of the story too much. Context clues gave me enough information to get what was being referred to, so I pretty quickly felt like I had a good grip on things. The way that the video game aspects of the story are conveyed are cool and clear. I appreciate how the author weaves high octane moments in with slower moments that allow us to digest what's happening and get a grip on the world of the story. 4.5/5
Story: Pretty much everything going on here is awesome. The first few chapters delivered on good action and cool descriptions of both human and ice elf tech, then chapter 5 gave me an info dump that I was craving so I could learn a bit more about the real world and the game world. Enough information to give me a sense of who the original race was and what they wanted, but still more than enough mystery to keep me engaged for future chapters. Author gives detail when detail is necessary, but skips it in favor of action or dialogue when those are better suited for the situation. 5/5
Grammar: A few typos or misplaced apostrophes, but nothing egregious enough to take me out of the story. 4.5/5
Characters: This is the only department that currently feels lacking. Other than a fun little game of kill fuck marry in the opening chapter (which I actually really enjoyed), there hasn't been much building up of unique characters. As of yet, most of the story's focus has been on action sequences, world building, and exposition - all of which are great and are done well, it just hasn't left a lot of room to get a good feel for Matt's character outside of him being a talented and honorable military man. Now that I feel as though a lot of the necessary information has been conveyed, I have high hopes that the next few chapters will give me a better idea of who these characters are. 3.5/5
