Description
Sometimes, when you wake up, you don’t find yourself in a house that you most definitely have never been in. Sometimes, mornings don’t start with something going down in flames. Sometimes, you are not given only six days until you die. But then again, it would be a completely different story.
Seven people find themselves on an island full of odd creatures and places. This motley crew is given a deadline: unless they find a way out to escape their fates, they will die, one person a day.
Each chapter encompasses a day, from Monday to Saturday. Release schedule is twice a week: Tuesday and Saturday. There are six chapters altogether, ending with Saturday. There’s no Sunday.

- IanFlatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a dreamy, surreal story that read, to me, like a fairytale. There's violence, yet still I came away with a real sense of sweetness.
I very much enjoyed the length, as I seem to find verrrrrry loooooong stories on Royal Road. So a nice contained story is a relief. And one in which magic feels magical--unknown, mysterious, misty--instead of being reduced to statitics and percentages is lovely, too.
That said, and definitely contradictorily, I sort of wish that it had been longer. Not overall, in terms of the arc of the story, but just in terms of development along the way. More details, maybe? More depth to the other characters? However, I'm not sure if that would improve the story or merely undermine the surreal dreaminess! - ToytoyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the idea and the characters and the writing! The choco bunnies are amazing! Definetly not a story to miss! Painter makes for such a fun main character as well! I love the riddle aspects and all the mystery that is created among the fairy tale setting! The contrasts between the characters is great as well! All in all, it is a lovely little story that is worth the read!
- wiserthanthouRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Saturday is a Good Day to Depart was a complete joy to read and really took me by surprise. Even while reading the summary I could already tell I was in for something special but everything I thought I would expereince was quickly thrown out the window.
Style: The way it is written is by far the main draw and hooking point. It reminds me of old children's classics done by Rohald Dahl and, more accurately, The Little Prince. In fact, the perfect way to describe it is The Little Prince in a fantasy world and with a darker and slightly more serious tone. It makes something unlike I've ever read, whimsical but also with an underbelly of something sinister going on. Reads like a lost classic.
Story: The story was extremely well paced. Each chapter is a day and at first I was curious how such short chapters could cover everything the days had to offer but the author did a tremendous job at that. There is a slowly unfolding mystery and it keeps asking questions even when it gives an answer to an older one.
Grammar: I am not a good judge of this area, but throughout the whole book I only saw a single typo! Nothing stood out to me as awkward or poorly worded. Was perfect.
Characters: The characters were extremely well done. Painter is a great lead and I found myself caring about her and Monk pretty instantly. I was constantly amused by their interactions and always on edge of something bad happening to them. The supporting cast is a lot more mysterious and I was unsure what any of them were capable of or what their true deals were. Loved them all, but it left me wanting to know more about each of them. Which leads me to...
The only thing close to a negative I have is the book left me begging for more! I love everything about the story but I need more of it! It felt very much like a fantastic little preview journey of a story that deserves a much more involved and drawn out tale. There are so many questions I have and so much I want to see happen. But I can't fault a story fo - TealiciousTeaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Very tense drama in an imaginative setting with a host of interesting characters.
The premise is carried through with flying colours.
My only nitpick is the paragraph spacing, pedantic I know but it does mess up, at least for me, with my ability to read the text. If fixed, dm me and I will update the rating to a five.
