The new version of this is available here:https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/40181/saga-of-the-soul-dungeon
When Caden dies in a car crash he is put in a dungeon core in another world. The problem with that? He still has a conscience, but the original dungeon core is still there in his mind, and it doesn't...
Of course, other people add their own issues:
Two human nations gain access to the dungeon and are not particularly pleased to share.
A sentient plant race claims the dungeon as sacred ground.
And, amidst the chaos, teams of adventurers just want to make a living.

- bukvyrmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you like Dungeon Core stories, you'll like this one. Foxmoor seems to be dedicated to finishing this one and also to doing a good job of it, he's already going back and editing. So it seems like a good bet if you're a fan of series like The Divine Dungeon by Dakota Krout or The Slime Dungeon by Jeffrey "Falcon" Logue. I personally like the newish take on the dungeon core (similar to I Was Reincarnated As a Magic Academy!) with a protagonist that seems like a nice guy who is smart about it and taking steps to preserve his morality from the get-go.
- lawfromchaosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is overall fantastic.
We get to see into the mind of the MC, Caden, who has been pulled from our world at the moment of death as his soul is captured and fused with a dungeon core.
What I find so fascinating is the care that Foxmoor takes to truly explore the depth of this situation. Caden responds how you would expect for someone who just went through a traumatic experience. He has to deal with it multiple times. Also he stays human. He does not suddenly turn murder happy even though he acquired the instincts of a dungeon.
He is a person, with human flaws and strengths. He also takes the time to truly explore his situation. He works on figuring out how the skills and magic work at a far deeper level than most LitRPGs.
I would say that character is the strongest element of the story, even if Caden is slow and methodical. Caden's thought process is apparent and obvious every step of the way even if the reader might not have made the same connections on their own.
Grammer and spelling are the weakest, but even these are far far better than the average story on RR, which is why they got a 4.5 while everything else got a 5.
I am really really looking forward to reading more of this story!
Note: I don't normally leave reviews, but I felt compelled to leave one after someone complained in their review that the story was derivative and another dungeon core story.
Really? That is literally in the title. Of course its another dungeon core story! Also the connections to the story they mention are tenuous at best. The other story is really good too, but they are really nothing alike. - callmesteveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0While there are some occasional typos, this is one of my favorite dungeon stories. The author puts a lot of work into writing wonderful scenery and fascinating mechanics, and yet also understands the need for security even as they invite adventurers in.
The resurrection token (or however that ends up working) is also an excellent and unusual idea. - Josh DavisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the world building, even the asides that haven't been expanded on. THe characters feel real, and react to the changes to themselves without feeling awkward. This is truly well-written.
- LessthanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Dungeon core novels have some fixed story points. Resource gathering, monster creation, fantasy world settings are all almost required plot points. How these points are handled matter and this novel does it pretty well so far. Unique takes on mana, world-building, and a more science-y take on monster creation have already come up and are very interesting. (What is going on with the sun?) I think it is worth reading.
- BinLoxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: looks great! I'm not sure what it is, but there is something that could be improved. But it's so small that I can't remember it, hence the 4.5/5.
Story: loving it! Please don't turn this into another of the stereotypical royalroads math-focused books. They're so boring.
Grammar: a few good ups here and there, but nothing that majorly detracts from the story. Remember, author, that you place a comma where you pause while speaking it. Also, you have to use Oxford commas, unlike what many on this site believe.
Character: I'm loving the core and Tam (Gnaes)'s interactions! Especially the cheeky bit at the end of chapter 1.8.
Overall, it's a story worth bookmarking, following, and favoriting. Give it a try! - TheCourtShukaldesRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5An interesting and compelling examination of dungeon life. The protagonist is crafty and analytical which lends to this compelling story. The mage started with a level of mystery and slowly, ever so slowly, the mystery falls away and we are left with a scientists mind fearing a mistake. Thanks Foxmoor!
- GknightRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This story is pretty good its a bit of a slow burn but its showing real potential i am hoping to see a bit more interaction between characters and more building and changes take place, I am also looking forward for a few more obstacles to be put in the path of the MC but honestly i like how its going so far.
- Crazymage13Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Tanks for a great read so far would like more if posiible constent updates.
Now to my reviwe on the story so far im at 3.07
Great begining i loved the cutious and curiuos thinking of the MD.
On the part of dungeon building i would like more context caouse the story has a lot of possible options of creations but its not spesified if used or just another idea for the future, also the same applys to the life and fauna that there isnt any description of useage and its a little bit lacking in a dungeon story for my taste.
World building and side charchters nicely itreduced and im expecting great things from the adar.
So far 4 stars becouse update consistancy
Last note dear story teller every story is unique for its creator so dont change for us but do what u think is right for u and the story. Also dont let the dungeon catch the corona virus exran will be to happy
Sencirly a happy reader - ragaRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The dungeon part has been good so far.
Motivations for the dungeon, less so. Long period of introspection under threat of death, and no shift in morals? That definitely needs to be explained/excused.
Generally, seems to be something of a pacifisitic martyr mindset. Or perhaps it's a comic-book one, with the unthinking assumption that "good" people never harm others, and do everything they can to help them. This then gets taken to an extreme. But that's extremely unrealistic (as in, people just don't act that way), and thus needs at least some explanation.
