And with that, i don't mean the game but your story so far.
And i honestly didn't expect it. But can you really blame me for thinking how cliché everything seemed after reading the synopsis? Parents die in a car crash, guy takes father role, sister disappears, quest to search for her in a game world. If you're even remotely into the LitRPG genre you must have seen a dozen stories similar to Rise of the Paladin. (Hell, even the title itself)
But i quickly forgot about my prejudices after actually bothering to read some of it. Although it starts out a bit slow the story is amazingly well written and really manages to draw you into it the more you read.
But the most amazing thing so far has been the characters. Micheal and his sister feel like real people (although a bit old fashioned) with their own personalities, problems, and circumstances. Their choices feel believable and i can actually see bits of myself in both of them which makes them relatable (for me at least). The only complaint i have is that we haven't been able to read the story from Brianna's point of view yet.
Now for the LitRPG elements. Easy to understand and straight to the point, just how i like it. Although it is fun to read about complex systems with big numbers and formulas it really pulls you out of the story if not done well so i was happy to see something more simple when we hit chapter 6/7.
I can really see this becoming one of the best stories on this site if you continue the way you have been going and seeing that you decided to call this "Book 1" i can see that you are determined to finish this and some more.
I'll hope you will surprise me even more.
