Description
Moving to a newer version. :)
Murderer of the divine, legendary Archmage Raalin Wynnryte has returned after 5,000 years.
The infamous mage brutally died at the hands of the gods; hunted to the ends of the earth. Now, in the year 4,008 Post-Fall, Alister Severin, son of Duke Severin of the Mare Kingdom, is only eight. In his past life, he fought the gods for their injustices. In this life, the most he’s had to worry about was making friends.
In the world of Bellianis, children remember bits and pieces of their most recent past life once they unlock their mana. Alister, however, remembers everything. Will the power of his past cause problems for who he is today? He is determined to make good on his threats, to kill the gods he failed to, and to become an Archmage again... but the world has changed. Five thousand years is a long time, and now there’s some ‘Opal System’ making levels and classes a facet of reality. No matter what, however, he refuses to let those he holds dear fall to the gods again.
RotAA: Rebirth is a slow-burn story about coming to terms with one’s capabilities and the limitations of youth. This first book in the RotAA series shows Alister to be a whiny brat who has toreluctantly grow into his new role as the son of a duke. Though it focuses primarily on Alister, there are multiple viewpoints throughout different parts of the story.

- WhimsicalDeityRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There's only 10 chapters out currently, but for what I've read so far, the story gets fives across the board.
Of particular note is the grammar and style, which both soar well above a lot of stories. Many works rest on their story and characters and expect the reader to forgive a good number of typos or the occasional stylistic issue. Not so, here. Though the first two chapters occasionally have a few sentences which can be overly long and peppered with too many commas, as a whole, the flow is superb and pleasant to read. The sentence structures are varied and at a high level. Typos of any sort were essentially nonexistent.
As for the story itself, it thus far is a fairly classic reincarnation story, with a nice twist. Instead of a classic "hero was fighting demons in the past" kind of novel, we have the protagonist rebelling against the gods themselves. Can't say too much about the story as, on chapter 10, it looks like there's still a lot of room to shine, but I've strongly enjoyed the pacing and plot so far.
Character wise, there hasn't been time enough for any deep character development, but the few people we've been introduced to are believable, have good dialogue, and are pleasant to read. Arguably, this could be a 4.5, as the MC has felt a touch flat emotionally (I'd perhaps freak out more than he did), but that feels like it could be a concious choice for the type of person he is.
All in all, nothing really bad to say here, save for the fact that the author says they might not have time to update it frequently in the future. Worth a read, and to the author: Hope your busy schedule eventually clears up enough for you to continue! Loving it so far. - ZalrickRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far, the story has held my attention. You're wondering as to what transpired and how things changed from the beginning. The characters are fantastic; some are less engaging than others due to a lack of opportunity to learn more about them.
I'm wondering about the litrpg elements that have yet to arrive, but we've previously been told when they'll appear.
The majority of the worldbuilding is done in an easy and intriguing manner, rather than overloading the reader by throwing everything at them at once. - AzralRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is so far a great story more what I expect would happen in reincarnation and definitely a fun and easy read. Very entertaining and enjoyable. I like the many plots and twists that have accumulated so far its starting out with a blend of cultivation magic and litrpg with tons of room for expansion and world character building I really hope for dozen books in this series and always looking forward to more. I couldn't get enough impatient for more. Great job
- CelesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a fantasy story about a godlike mage reincarnated into a child. What makes it stand out head-and-shoulders over the other similarly clichee setups is how there actually are consequences of the MC being a child! That's wonderful!! My heart burst with happiness at reading a) snotty remarks b) high-and-mighty naive worldviews c) temper tantrums d) and their wonderfully backfiring consequences!!
Haven't read many xianxias but this one seems like a brilliant subversion of the arrogant young master theme. I totally feel with the MC. Even if his agency is somewhat overshadowed by current events, he has my compassion. I really am curious how the author will solve the current rather..somewhat clichee... combat situation. I sincerely hope for a third, unexpected path to resolution, as either of the two obvious ones might not lead to a satifying conclusion.
Side characters currently are a little one-sided, but maybe we can see some more than the front as the story progresses.
Overall, this story's style, grammar, and least, story, are very good to great; but character trumps them all, as I find the MC's struggle with himself, and himself, extremely well thought out, entertaining and just overall awesome. - Heva20Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the approach of the writer in dealing with the MC and can't wait for the conclusion of this first "part" of the story and how the MC's relationships will develop with the side characters. Until now the side characters feel like they actually have impact on the story and are't just plot devices for our MC.
Looking forward to the next Chapters. - Rando99Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0That's the first reincarnation fiction (meaning an old soul in a young body) I found which merges the two personalities very well together. The author manages to show us still a cute kid with an ancient archmage personality which is not easy.
Normally the 'kid years' are clumsy or boring, here I hope they will continue on. - Snowy DepthsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story follows the premise of reincarnation; ancient archmage gets killed off by the gods and reborn as a kid. So far the story has explored his inner conflict (childish personality vs adult memories), intriciate worldbuilding related to the fate of the world after our protagonist's death and the mysterious existence of the OS. Pretty good so far, ngl. The story hasn't yet picked up in terms of action, but the glimpses and brief fight we were shown are enough to showcase a complex. power system.
It's fair to note that the book contains quite a bit of lore and worldbuilding, of which I am sure a significant amount will play an important role in the future. As such, if you aren't willing to deal with a considerable amount of information, I suggest you move on. - AsendedrealityRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the story is quite promising and entertaining. I enjoy the content and the writing style. While the author doesn't seem like a professional writer, the story so far flows well, and the lore is intriging. Only issue I have is that chapters spend to long on one thing, and with the relativley short chapters and semi slow upload times it means it can take a while for stuff to happen. It will be less of an issue on a re-read, or a first read if more content is out.
Overall good story. - Your Hated BossRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5They are short and sweet chapters that are clearly early work from an author that is getting better as we go. If you don't pick this one up, maybe check out their next.
I won't tell you it's perfect or better than a lot of the rest you will find here. But I would be crushed after 50 chapters of 3/5 star reviews; this author is 64 chapters in. That shows a grind that most people lack here, and I am all for supporting that. Plus, I don't mind the story, and the fun ideas are, well fun, one of the few stories I can turn my brain off and just enjoy.
Edit: chapter 80 something
Some of the character progression in the current chapters has been done really well. A short dive into trauma, and learning to share burdens. It's not a master class on the topic, and I don't think it was meant to be. But it does show that the author cares more about why the character progresses and not how.
The how of it is shown/told more than told/shown but not by enough to really tell the two apart. Im 80-something chapters in, and I'm not regretting it. Read your other stories first, but if you have the time, I would get through the 20 to 30k words that are the first 30 chapters and hit some of the bigger and better developments happening now. They are as good as a normal Royal Road book at this point. I think we could be in for a treat if the author doesn't stop improving.
Happy to see its back, RR didnt tell me anything past chapter 100, the current developments are fire. - Devil SinRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I found it a bit contradictory that Alister was mature enough to know what he needed to know & learn first, and he also evaluated his strength against the Instructor, but he still impulsively goes to the forest to unlock his system, despite realising how painful it was to cast even a simple feather fall spell. However rebellious he might have been against his parents, it doesn't make sense he would go to the depth of the forest for a hunt.
But overall awesome story with awesome MC, interesting characters and Marvelous worldbuilding.
