- TheBreakernewRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TL:DR
This is a very entertaining Bleach fanfiction that takes place a few decades after the events of the progenitor story. The main focus is an original character, whom has very interesting characteristics and a mysterious power.
There are serveral recurring old characters, as well as new and all of them are as of yet written very well.
Stars Explanation:
For the overall score i'll usually give stories I like 5 stars due to how ratings are weighted on this site. For the sub-categories, they'll fluctuate based on my opinion on what I've currently read.
Style:
The style of this story is very well thought out. It is plain to me that the author spent a good amount of time thinking about how they wanted this story to flow, and flow it does! There are clear story beats, and they all lend a sense of progression to the story. As well as enticing me to read more and anticipate the next chapter.
Story:
The story has done exactly what it needed to do, It hooked me in the beginning and it countinued to interest me through out the chapters I've read. This story also does something that not all stories on this site can boast about. The vaunted 'show not tell', and when there are explanation they come about in setting's that make sense for them to happen in.
Grammar:
The grammar is very good, with only 2 or 3 mistakes per chapter. Even then they aren't deal breakers, only being a missing word here or there, or misspellings. Overall, very respectable for a Royal Road story.
Character:
The characters are where this story shines. Each and every one is written such that you get a good feel of who they are and what their emotional states are. They certainly aren't flat character's!
Though there is a somewhat strange romance between the main character and another OC, which comes about rather suddenly. I am almost certain however, that this is a story plot that just hasn't had enough chapters to have been sufficiently explored.
Overall:
Overall, I think this is a very promising story t - Dylan KingRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A very creative Bleach fanfic, that manages to use the tools that the original left at the end of the series in order to create an orignal story set in Karakura Town.
Style
The author's writing is competent, if workman-like. There is a lack of distinguishing features in the prose, and the author could do some work on developing his voice; but what is here is more than sufficient as the wheels upon which the story runs.
Grammar
There are some grammar mistakes, particularly in chapter one, but nothing worth stressing too much over - certainly nothing that would put me off reading more.
Story
The plot for 'Ribon' is promising, focusing around an area of Bleach lore that is rather underdeveloped in canon. The biggest complement I can pay it is that I will be reading more as soon as time allows. I will say there is a romance sub-plot that moves so quickly it's incredibly jarring - the female OC almost immediately falls in love with the main character OC literal days after having met him. I can see, I think, an attempt to mirror Orihime and Ichigo's relationship from the original series, or possibly even Rukia/Ichigo. The difficulty here is that Orihime and Ichigo's relationship was established to have begun prior to the start of the series and so nothing is jarring. Rukia/Ichigo was a relationship based on a sense of obligation in S1 and built slowly. This isn't like either at all, and needs further devlopment.
Character
Usually with fanfics, OCs come off as feeling wooden and cliche when compared with canon characters, as inexperienced authors struggle to build a character themselves. This story almost has the opposite problems. The OC characters are far and away the highlight of the story thus far, both being believable and relatable people, that intereact well. By contrast, the actual canonical characters, specifically Kisuke, feel like overblown caricatures of their canon personalities. It's not a huge problem, but it something worth considering. - SageofloreRoyal Road★★★ 2.5It would be a fine story if it all wasn't so forced. Like everything that happens doesn't make sense for it to happen. All the events, consequences and pretty much anything in the story, feel like they have no reason to happen. Plus some of the bleach characters just feel way out of it, like they have been given a personality to act out and not just being themselves.
Honestly without adding like 10 chapters between the current existing ones I don't see how to fix this story.
