- NedvisorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read through the first 6 chapters of this story and have enjoyed several aspects of it:
Characters: We were introduced to three characters, each of which has a 1st person perspective. This is very challenging to do, but fortunately I found that the author made each voice distinct enough that I was not confused when switching POVs.
Style: If you like long detailed descriptions then you are in luck—this story is chock full of them! Every time I thought they were going on for a sentence too long the author always ended them and overall I felt they balanced it well with action. I was never bored reading the descriptions and they really helped me to see this unique setting that fantasy fiction does not have much of.
Grammar: nothing too bad at all! The author clearly spent a lot of time getting the typos out and it shows.
Story: We are introduced to an epic war in the first chapter, and after which some time passes and we get our main characters. There is a lot of back ground only hinted at and I was quite curious to learn more as the story progressed and the lore of not only the world but also the characters back ground was drip fed to us at a satisfying rate.
Overall: If you you are interested in a kind of fantasy that is rarely (if ever) explored this give this one a look! I should also mention that all the names are distinctly Meso American. There were times I had trouble sounding them out, but overall I like the unique sounding words. Recommended! - The Time TinkererRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Give this a try!
'Revolutions' may have a rather generic title, but once you dig in, you find the story is anything but. It's an exceptionally written, highly descriptive and authentic pre-columbian fiction with creative fantasy elements.
This story presents the friction and conflicts following a post-war power vacuum in a society where each tribe has their own culture and pride. It's rather complex in scope, but following each character it makes sense.
Characters and lore: There are multiple POVs and expertly developed characters that try to do their best for themselves and/or for their people. Each faction and their representatives feel grounded in reality, in their own customs, traditions, and have their own personal drives. Each character is compelling and fleshed out with emotions.
Lore: There's elements of mythology and fantasy scattered through. Won't say more to spoil.
Style: Very professional, definitely feels a cut above the rest on this site. It's more reminiscent of classical stories, rather than LitRPG and lightnovels that are so prevalent on RR.
Over all, it's a criminally underrated fic, I think the only matter that held it back from reaching trending page is its rather generic name. I'm glad to have come across it. Has great potential. - frockerikRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Revolutions stands out in the fantasy scene, delivering a world that feels fresh and unique with its self-described pre-Columbian universe with a neat fantasy spin. The setting is after a massive war, throwing us into this tangled mess of power struggles where every tribe is out for themselves, wearing their own cultures and traditions like badges of honor.
Character: This story is all about its characters. It boasts a rich cast of people, each with their own agendas, whether it's trying to do right by their people or just surviving the chaos. The way the author juggles multiple first-person POVs is pretty slick, giving each character a distinct voice that really lets you get inside their heads.
Story: At its heart, Revolutions is an epic tale that cleverly navigates through the aftermath of war and the scramble for power that follows. It’s packed with all this drama and cultural richness that just hooks you in. The storytelling does a killer job at blending action with this slowly unraveling lore that makes you want to keep reading to see what happens next.
Grammar: The writing is super clean. It’s obvious the author put a ton of effort into polishing the text, so you’re not tripping over typos every few seconds, which is a breath of fresh air.
Style: The way Revolutions is written is downright immersive. If you’re into detailed scenes that paint a vivid picture of the world, you’re in for a treat. The author nails it with the sensory details, dragging you into this setting that’s so rare in fantasy. Although sometimes it can get wordy, you get these lush descriptions that somehow never slow down the pace.
Revolutions is a nice change from the usual fantasy fare using a seldom-explored era and setting. It’s got a solid mix of characters, a gripping plot, clean writing, and an immersive style that’s hard to find elsewhere. It feels more like a journey back in time with a fantasy twist. It's a must-read for fans of fantasy looking for an adventure that’s anything but - unluckywerewolfRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read 20 chapters of "Revolutions", which unfolds into an extraordinary pre-Columbian fiction, infused with creative fantasy elements. The narrative, set against the backdrop of a post-war society in a Mesoamerican-inspired universe, is complex yet captivating, where the reader follows a member of distinct and unique tribes.
Character: "Revolutions" masterfully introduces multiple characters from different factions, each portrayed through their own unique first-person perspective. This narrative technique adds depth and authenticity to each character, making them feel real and relatable. The characters are not only well-developed but also reflective of their own cultures and personal motivations, creating a diverse and engaging cast.
Style: The author excels in delivering detailed and vivid descriptions that enrich the narrative without overwhelming it. The style is professional and reminiscent of classical storytelling, a refreshing deviation from the common trends in fantasy fiction. The balance between descriptive passages and action keeps the reader engaged, effectively bringing to life the unique pre-Columbian setting of the story.
Grammar: The grammar is notably polished, with minimal typographical errors. It's evident that the author has invested time in refining the prose, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable reading experience.

Overall: "Revolutions" stands out as a unique and underrated piece of fantasy. Its exploration of themes and settings rarely seen in the genre, coupled with its distinctively Mesoamerican-inspired names and cultures, makes it a compelling read. The story's - worldlyhabitRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In a sea of LitRPG, this is a refreshing, old school fantasy story that captures a world on the brink of an epic battle. With a unique setting that I've not seen used in fantasy, the descriptive prowess displayed in the narrative immerses the reader in the unfamiliar terrain and the looming conflict that lies ahead.
Style: The author's writing style is truly vivid and immersive. The detailed descriptions and sensory imagery transports the reader into the Mesoamerican-inspired world of the story. There's a strong sense of atmosphere and emotion in each paragraph, and from the beginning, it effectively grabs my attention.
Story: The story is compelling and well-paced. It effectively combines elements of fantasy, war, and personal reflection. The author builds tension and maintains interest throughout, and the action scenes are particularly well-executed, providing a sense of urgency and chaos.
Grammar: The grammar is excellent. The writing is clear, concise, and well-structured. There are no noticeable grammatical errors that disrupt the flow of the narrative.
Characters: We get five main characters, and while the protagonists' internal thoughts and emotions are well-developed, there could be more exploration of secondary characters. The brief interactions with other warriors and characters provide glimpses of their personalities, but additional depth and complexity in character dynamics could enhance the overall story.
The chapters I've read are well-written, and I feel the reader is immersed into the world and the people's struggle for freedom. The descriptions are vivid, and the action scenes and dialogue are particularly engaging. With a bit more depth in character development, this story could truly shine. I'm looking forward to reading more.
