Description

Rev Turner Shrader better known as Rev Bones is not your typical exorcist or mage. As thepersonal assistant to Yeshua bin Yusuf(better known as Jesus), Bones’ day-to-day life is a chaotic blend of the mundane and the supernatural. Tasked with everything frompicking up dry cleaningtoperforming exorcisms, Bones never knows if his next errand will involve running to the bakery for beignets or banishing an ancient demon. With his trustypocket Bible(which contains an infinite number of pages and a handy "Tongues" section for translation), his magicalPenjamminvape (which transforms into a classic wooden pipe whenever time gets tricky), and his ever-present sense of sarcasm, Bones handles the absurdities of his job with a mix of reluctance and wit.

Living in an RV that’s enchanted to feel like aDubai penthouseon the inside, Bones is always on the move, traveling across time and space, from modern-day Louisiana to Renaissance Paris, tracking down supernatural threats—often with little more than aMcDonald’s cheeseburgerand his beat-upduct-taped Vansto help him. Each story follows Bones as he juggles the everyday demands of his celestial boss with the dangerous, often ridiculous tasks he’s assigned, all while trying to grab a snack along the way.

The series blendslighthearted humor with dark, supernatural elements, as Bones faces off against demons, vampires, and otherworldly creatures, using his wits and the scraps of magic he can cobble together. Whether it’s accidentally traveling through time or using fast food to trap a demon, Bones never fails to rise to the challenge—though he’ll complain about it the whole way. After all, saving the world is one thing, but getting home with fresh beignets is another matter entirely.

    Overview
Rev Bones is a whimsical and engaging urban fantasy that skillfully blends elements of humor, horror, and historical fiction. The novel follows Rev Bones, a quirky exorcist and personal assistant to Jesus, as he navigates a world where magic and the mundane collide. The story is filled with unexpected twists, vibrant characters, and a healthy dose of absurdity.
    Character
Rev Bones is a compelling protagonist whose dry wit and sarcastic charm make him instantly likable. His unique relationship with Jesus adds a layer of intrigue and humor to the narrative.
    Grammar
    No complaints here.
    Story
Imagine being the secretary where every time you run out on an errand, there is some major side quest that you have to complete. Personally, I prefer to know what I’m walking into, but it would be a great way to make sure I stayed on my toes because anything could be my next mission. Each of these chapters so far has been its own well paced mini-episode, which not only provides a satisfying ending, but still leaves me looking forward to the next chapter.
    Style
Profpdduvall's writing style is witty and engaging, with a playful tone that suits the subject matter. The dialogue is natural and believable, and the descriptions are vivid and evocative. The novel's blend of humor and horror creates a distinct and memorable atmosphere.

Rev Bones is an enjoyable blend of humor and supernatural adventure. The protagonist, Rev Bones, stands out with his sarcastic charm, and the quirky mix of everyday tasks with otherworldly missions makes for a fun, lighthearted read. The world building is strong, though a bit more dialogue would deepen the interactions. Overall, a great choice for fans of witty urban fantasy.

    Rev Bones is, in my opinion a story that has all the ingredients to be a compelling and noteworthy read;
    - An interesting premise and world
    - A likeable character
    - A compelling venture for said character to go on
All of these things when boiled together form something that I believe a lot of people are going to end up enjoying. I enjoy the longer written, episodic format even though I'm sure it won't be to everyone's taste, but to me it reminds me of a slightly more humorous supernatural episode in the early seasons. The author here has a vision that he wants to take the reader through and I believe they have done that well.
My only wish is for more dialogue as it's mostly narration with a few one liners placed in but that's an easy fix. If anything I believe this shows how much I want to KNOW about that world the author has created. I don't believe that this story is for everyone, but that's every story on RR. What I do believe however, is that the people who will like it will LOVE it.
Overall, with what I have read so far I think that Rev Bones has all the makings of a great supernatural episodic adventure, and as long as that's what your looking for, Rev Bones has that in spades.
