Been reading this on Reddit's /r/HFY for ages now, and it's fantastic. I wish more of it was here - RR is so much easier on the eyes!
Good characters I've grown attached to, a military atmosphere that feels realistic and is definitely entertaining, and sensible dramatic tension at times that makes consideration of the wider world and the people within it. It bears some similarity to GATE, but it puts its own spin on things and doesn't lean nearly as heavily into the fantasy of it all, remaining very much grounded in the real world - ours included. The politics seem simpler to me than GATE but very well done - which is a plus for me, as I tend to dislike political BS in my fiction.
There are a few common tropes around, but they're used well and sometimes subverted or combined. At least one Arrogant Young Master, at least one Zapp Brannigan (you'll know who I mean when they show up), at least one Mulan, at least one Lucky Coincidence, and a love story that I want to say is a Slow Burn but it could also be that it simply isn't rushed, and is given time to develop naturally.

Been following this one for years over on Reddit.
Great characters, and world building. The action is well paced, the characters have lots of depth, and the bad guys definitely stand up for a real fight, unlike some other HFY style stories where the fight is over because humans show up.
    Highly recommended.

One of my favorite well researched military meets fantasy stories finally reaches RR.  Each chapter may take months to come out,  but they are so well laid out that it's worth the wait. The characters are all distinct with growing personalities, and the accuracy to military procedures and how the real world works is phenomenal.  Give this story a shot!
