Reincarnation of a Businessman
Community Rating
Description
A businessman is betrayed by those he holds dearest and reincarnates into a mystical world of cultivation where the power of a single person can split the heavens. However, his reincarnation does not go smoothly...
********************
This is a xianxia (cultivation/progression fantasy) story which fuses a lot of western fantasy elements. This story includes POV's of different characters which are all going to be developed in the future and will have an effect on the story. The novel is named after the reincarnation of the businessman which serves as a cataclysm in the world of cultivation, and while the MC uses some of his business knowledge, this novel is not centered around the MC creating a business empire. I plan to extend the story into at least 2 books, both taking place in the same world.

- DaoistDababyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First off, I binged the 17 chapters in an hour and a half and seeing Storm King's comment and review I am deeply confused. Rating .5 stars without proper justification and calling novel clickbait after reading 5 chapters is just bullying a new and interesting story which deserves to be read.
So far, the story is unique and has really high potential but the beginning is slightly rough due the author being new. By chapter 15, the story is completely readable and the slight errors dont take away from the experience. Character is pretty generic but has a lot of room to grow and acts like someone his age.
The businessman reincarnating and sharing a body with an mc and there being multiple characters including one with a system is one of the most unique points I have read, this novel seems to try to combine multiple genres and I am looking forward to its success. - immortalchoppaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story starts off pretty generic and slow, but quickly turns unique and interesting. I think the fight scenes are fairly well done and the overall character setup is good.
Spoiler of chapter 1-20:
There are several protagonists and each seem to have a unique quirk about them but at the same time they are all fairly op. The main protagonist, Zhao Fan, merges with businessman and one of the protagonists literally has a system which is why this novel looks like it strives to achieve a lot. There also seems to be a lot of foreshadowing such as the grasping fortune sect disaster and the mysterious wall.
Overall I think the book is worth a shot and even if the writing is a little rough, the idea looks really promising - sussybaka69Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am going to be honest, the style of the author is a little rough but since I think it is his first novel I will not majorly take off for it unless he fails to improve later on.
As for grammar, I think it is fine because I didn't spot any mistakes reading through.
Story starts out very rough because of the generic set up and plain character but it seems to actually be one of those books were the more you read the more everything makes sense as the world is fleshed out and mysteries are uncovered instead of the MC having an info dump at the start when he is a weakling. For this, as well as the interesting plot twist once the story gets going, I think this book deserves a 5 atleast for now. Read spoiler below for more info.
There are several protagonists which is somewhat rare and welcome especially in a cultivation novel. Also, the way the businessman is introduced is really unique and actually somewhat unexpected. Instead of the status quo, mc reincarnates and takes over some recently dead kid, the grasping fortune sect, one of the powers in this world, predicts the reincarnation and tries to help the host fight back against the businessman. In a twist of fate, the two actually merge and coexist which was completely unexpected. Also the author seems to try to combine multiple subgenres like systems and reincarnation to make a unique story which is commendable. Overall, good start.
The MC is fairly plain and uninteresting but why should he be? Since this is just the start of the novel, making a character have a normal character and even being somewhat plain leaves a lot of room for future growth so I think it's fine for the start. Read spoiler for more info below
The various characters which I presume are going to be antagonists of the story (or protagonists?) all are unique and have different personalities. Author atleast tried to make children think and sound like children (Yin Yuhan) so props to him for that as it is a very annoying trope I see often.
Definetly g - GloomyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I feel like this type of novel should be encouraged because of the creativity behind it (or the supposed creativity behind it) and here is why.
First off, unlike a certain king, I read through the entire story and can honestly say that the novel has huge potential and is extremely unique. I think this novel is more akin to a love letter to traditional Chinese novels with a twist instead of a clickbait novel because chapters 1-5 are world-building while being semi-entertaining, and chapter 6 introduces the businessman. In chapter 16, certain events happen that explain the name of the novel, though going into that would be spoiler territory and would spoil a great twist in the novel which I find welcome. So while it takes a while to get going, I do think it has an extremely interesting premise with many good points about it plotwise.
Second off, going into more detail about later chapters, I assume that since the author started switching POVs, he will be making a novel akin to Death... and Me, meaning multiple protagonists, and the story is shown through multiple eyes, which I find extremely appealing. For one it means that we can learn more about the world while it is less of an info dump and two it opens this novel to a world of possibilities. I honestly think that this novel is heading in a good direction and by all means should be encouraged.
Third off, while I do think that the author's basic writing skills need improvement, overall the story is cohesive and each element leads into the next. So far, there hasn't been much filler like most other novels do, and the protagonist, while cookiecutter, has room to properly develop with the world around him. There are so many ways the plot can develop and honestly, while the author's writing skills do detract from the experience, I can see this novel becoming popular off of, not just the premise, but the additional unique elements added in, that when combined make a truly unique story.
So while this story has its flaws, - librarysmilesRoyal Road★★★ 2.5This story starts with Zhao Fan a "normal" cultivator who braved a lot of pain to gain his cultivator cheat.
I was then looking forward to seeing how Zhao Fan would use his talent to start a business.
Then chapter 6 (and 12) happened and I thought that Zhao Fan would become a very active hunter and important partner to the businessman.
However, chapter 16 showed a different solution, one that relegates Zhao Fan to the background.
I tried a couple more chapters to see if there was any changes, but it looks like Zhao Fan was someone who most likely will never truly recover and that seems to be the point of the novel- it's now about a businessman. However, I find my enjoyment of this story has hit a wall.
