I think you get exactly what is promised in the overview. Yes, the first few chapters feel a little like fillers, but it’s not too bad, especially for a slice-of-life story. Besides, the chapters are on the shorter side, so you don’t spend much time on them.I think I might have a different opinion if I had started reading this story earlier, or if there had been a bigger delay between chapters, but right now it’s a pretty good time to start. You can quickly read through the first few chapters and get to the parts where more things actually happen, rather than just the MC describing the weather. The MC sometimes seems to be on the worse side of people, but overall I wouldn’t say he’s any worse than your typical MC, so it’s fine in the end.The system is pretty standard for this trope—anything you do costs something, kind of like pay-to-win.Overall, I think the story is enjoyable to read. It’s relaxing, and it has potential.

Characters, or rather character. We have a single character, and he mostly seems to exist to lampshade tropes and has a very bad case of first person bloat. No development, no revelations since chapter one. We have two potential characters introduced in chapter 20, so I’m hopeful that will change. The Setting is generic fantasy so far. Nothing to note. The plot is what prompted me to give this a try, and it does seem to be following it. Slowly, To be fair, chapters are very short, so my 20 chapters in is closer to 10 ‘proper’ chapters. Not a bad choice in and of itself, as reducing scroll-length is helpful, but the chapters don’t hold up as chapters, or half chapters. Or as worthy of being included; there is maybe 4 chapters worth of content. They Style is clearly that of a light novel, and grammar is simple, but correct. Unfortunately, there is a lot of show-and-tell making it slow and repetitive.
