Reign of Villainy: Akemi [LitRPG/Isekai]
Community Rating
Description
Akemi died the same day Elders Scrolls VI came out. Can you really blame her for wanting to stab somebody?
In a universe where heroes are more populous than mosquitoes, choosing the Villainous path is rife with System-provided perks—all it takes is disposing of enough goody-two-shoes knights and rich princes. Of course, there’s just one small detail: everyone is out to kill you.
After living a mind-numbing life of earthly inadequacy, Akemi was given the choice between transmigrating as a beloved, world-renowned hero, or choosing the villainous class known asThe Accountant. Only this time, with less bankruptcy, and more throat-cutting.
She didn’t even have to think about it.
Villainy just sounded way more fun.
What to expect:
-Fast-paced action sprinkled with comedy.- Loveable, if slightly deranged, three-dimensional characters- Layers of worldbuilding to pick apart, revealed slow and steady- And of course, one villainess’s ruthless pursuit of power
Schedule:New chapters Monday, Wednesday, and occasionally bonus chapters on Friday.

- Tripper_ShamanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is pretty well written in terms of spelling, grammar, etc. It's an easy read and goes down smooth.
It's the kind of story where there's no sense that any important characters are really in danger, instead focusing on the chaotic evil MC as she murders her way through the world, with minor hiccups along the way. That isn't everyone's cup of tea, but those who like that kind of thing will appreciate this story. - HollexRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A fresh villain is always welcome, with a fascinating as well as fun protagonist but more importantly she IS A TRULY EVIL VILLAIN and not a sneaky anti-hero who ends up being nicer than the heroes.
She defines herself as:
Her set of personal ethics was quite simple. If something good happened to her, it was meant to be. If something bad happened to her, then she would, as quickly as possible, make it someone else’s problem. She didn’t really see any other way about living life. Any other methodology seemed inefficient, and, at worst, embarrassing
The world where the adventure takes place is also very promising and the plot promises a lot of action and fun in equal parts. At the moment the story is not very advanced but the events that occur so far are quite amusing as well as evil and cruel.
It is also worth mentioning that it is not a serious fiction and normally the events should be taken in a carefree way, without thinking too much about it. So if you're into villains, real evil villains with funny events, absurd situations and antagonists who are textbook heroes, then this is the fiction for you. But, if what you are looking for is a protagonist who although cruel and with a gray moral is a protagonist who cares about the welfare of the people (Anti-hero), this fiction is not for you. - DesercitusRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5In short: The description is pretty much spot on. Superbly written, fun, fast-paced, with all the moustache-twirling, dastardly villainy you could hope for.
In detail: With the MC being a selfish jerk without a shred of conscience, my initial fear was that she'd be unlikable, or that this story - like many where the villain tends to win - would be too depressing or sickening. Luckily. those fears have proven so far unfounded. Our villainess, Akemi, may be a jerk, but in such a comedic, energetic way I couldn't help but like her, and as her heroic counterparts are mostly self-righteous, pretentious gits who are little better than the villains and only less honest about their selfishness, you don't have to feel to bad for most of her victims. When occasionally she does cross paths with truly innocent people, the story doesn't dwell on the more heartwrenching aspects of it.
As for the LitRPG elements, they seem fun so far, without being either overbearing or irrelevant - a crucial part of the story, but not to the point where entire chapters revolve around selecting builds and distributing points the right way. I will say the LitRPG elements do seem relatively heavy, with options like multiclassing and skill trees, and even skill checks and dice rolls that make it sometimes seem like a session of DnD - the best kind, of course!
What not to expect: Some things you might expect or hope for, but are unlikely to be found, judging by the story so far:
- A villain with deeply held beliefs or principles, or with a heart of gold: Akemi is not a tragic, twisted figure who chose the wrong path with good intentions, but rather an utterly amoral, selfish, and remorseless murderer. That's a big part of the fun!
- A serious exploration of good and evil, crime, or the causes behind it.
- "Grimdark", sinister worldbuilding. - HughgentRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm enjoying this story.
While being 37 chapters in, the story has gone all of like a week of time. As such this is still very much the beginning of this story. I'm finding the pace of things to be pleasant though.
The protagonist is being Evil, capital E for emphasis here. It's a type of cruel and casual evil though. Murder for profit, bullying, a casual disregard for property rights, overall standard bad guy fare. I kind of hope it gets into a kind of Disney Evil, "such all the joy out of christmas" type of thing.
A pleasant enough kind of read, so long as you like your anti-hero's with a murderous bent. - Emrys89Royal Road★★★ 3.0A good start to this story. Though I feel like it will not suit my needs.
I enjoy a good villainy story but I also feel like the MC is a bit to bland for me to understand.
Recommended to those you just want an fun and easy read. - ApfRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The story would be good, but it seems to be hell-bent on treating the good guys as bad guys. Now, I don't mean 'our protagonist is mean and the heroes are standing in her way' I mean in a 'actually highway robbery is cool, people trying to stop that are the real baddies'.
So... stay away. - Kirsd95Royal Road★★★ 2.5It's well written, no serious grammatical errors and it seems fast paced until now. But I despise the main character; an extremely lucky unintelligent asshole with no charisma nor motivation.
To explain my view of the MC here what I belive could happen: the MC kicks a puppy, because she can. BUT she is in the middle of an animal fair. BUT unbeknown to her someone else attract the public attention and she can escape and meanwhile she pickpockets a couple of persons. - M_T_DRoyal Road★★ 2.0I really wanted to like this story. It has an interesting premise, be reincarnated as a villain in a world full of heroes, beat the odds and establish your villainous legacy. The main character knows that reincarnation is a thing and so has less qualms with killing/being evil.
Style and grammar are good, just a few points where the scene shifts in a confusing way, nothing major wrong here.
The biggest problem is the MC. She is not an interesting villain. She is stupid, obnoxious, and terrible at using her powers. She has OP abilities and still manages to kneecap herself over and over, failing to use them in simple ways that would be hugely beneficial. She would be dead at least once per chapter if her plot-armor wasn't constantly saving her. She never learns from her mistakes. She has no motivation to do anything, she's just murderhoboing around while stuff happens to her, yet she fancies herself as some kind of expert at playing villain roles. Her actual understanding of villainy amounts to an 11 year old playing Skyrim. She's level 1 killing random NPCs, getting slapped down by guards, rinse and repeat.
Another point of weakness is the videogamesque stat system. It is inconsistent in terms of how stats and damage/hp/defense interact. In one scene she one-shots a level 15 character as a level 2. Later on, she one shots a knight who is several levels above her. Then, she doesn't kill an unconscious knight who is level 18 because his "hp pool is too big". Basically, it feels like characters are as fragile or strong as the plot needs at that particular moment. The numbers are for show, so the story is better of without them. - TheDragonBeyondTheGateRoyal Road★★ 2.0The story promised funny villain hijinks. Instead we get something pretty meh.
The main character is incurious but lucky. She has a powerful cheat that she's never used properly. It's sort of amazing actually that this far into the story she's never bothered to actually use her super spell against another person.
To be clear, she's murderous and she doesn't use her murder spell because...
There isn't a reason, it would just trivialize a bunch of fights so instead she flails around so that she has to luck her way out of problems.
She's also incredibly arrogant. That could be funny if she had something to back it up, but instead she just comes across as a tryhard. - FreysgodiRoyal Road★★ 1.5This isekai is more game-like than anything I've seen yet. It's like someone's fever dream after playing too much BG3. Dice are rolling, boxes are looted.
The writing style and language are decent. Which doesn't help since events are so mundane. MC found a plate, a cup and 5 gold pieces, MC is now encumbered, rejoice reader.
MC is actually villainous, as promised by the title. Although with how artificial the world feels her villainy rings hollow. I guess this still merits a +1 star.
Couldn't make it far, maybe it gets better.
