I genuinely look forward to every update of this story. I've only spotted a couple of typos, and the characters are compelling and their stories offer an intriguing amount of growth. The author strikes a good balance between Raika's madness inspiring her early in the narrative and balancing that out with the theorizing and discoveries from later on. Book two (especially the tournament arc) is probably best read in one go so that you get the emotional payoff, but it's worth it. I liked the subtle, hidden threat of the antagonist. I also quite like the setting and can't wait to encounter more eldritch beings :)

I don't normally really enjoy eldritch horror style fiction. Luckily I was on a bit of a Xania buzz and decided to give it a shot, or I might have missed this gem. Don't let the eldritch mention throw you off like it almost did me. The writing and characters make it well worth it.
It's the humour that makes this one so damn good. The right balance of sass and badass, and not stupid gifted some cheat badass, the "I've got nothing but screw you, I'll stab you in your stupid face after I sharpen my nothing" kind of badass, and also that kind of humour.
    Give it a go.

This story follows an up-and-coming cultivator who doesn't know when to quit.
    Anything.
Not cultivating, not fighting, and not running her mouth to impossible-to-beat monsters who steal their juniors prizes.
I'm sure you can imagine how well this ends ... and begins
Because by some quirk of fate, the MC doesn't die. One of her sect mates pays for her to be treated at a moral hospital,  because the disturbing truth is that she will never recover. Finally, she is shown the door to the hospital when the money runs out and most of the healers expect that to be the last they see of the poor damaged wretch, she will surely die before the next winter finishes.
Except ... she never gives up
I would highly reccommend this story. The storytelling is tight, the mood contains a nice bit of humor, but not enough to make it into slapstick. The characters are reasonably well constructed, but if the author has a weak spot, that's what it will be. Still, it's not enough to detract from the other sterling elements. This is truly a story that I don't want to put down. You hear that about stories a lot more than you encounter it.

Wow this was a breath of fresh air. While I initially disliked the shit that she had to go through it feels like it will pay off. Really looking forward to how her development continues.

im not sure how to explain it but it just feels so nice being able to see the author‘s thoughts, glimpses into their life and their recommendations! (got a LOT on my reading list now)

This story does an incredible job, in my opinion, of exploring body and Eldritch horror alongside a variety of other backdrops.
I really can't recommend this enough; the author has a wonderful capacity to create a world that truly reads alien and yet familiar. I'm over two hundred and forty chapters in and still eagerly awaiting updates.

    [Commentary]
This series was one of my first intentional dives into transhumanism and body horror. If im being honest, it was brilliant. A very enjoyable series centered in the pain and perseverance of the FMC, in a world that is incredibly subversive of the typical tropes found in a cultivation novel. It doesn't shy away from trauma and loss, and how it can effect the people who go through it, but it does so with a level of class that I think is missing in many similar IPs. It does all of this while also giving the world and magic system room to breath and grow organically within the r

I had a really hard time deciding how to rate this one. On one hand, the protagonist and a lot of characters are really well done, and you can't help but root for them or hate them in equal measure. The world is good enough if a bit unimaginative, so far the eldritch part is so elusive and vague it might as well not exist. The grammar is fine and the style is definitely some of the best you'll get on this website. However, the story is very hard to like. It's a classic amongst classics to break down your protagonist so that they can raise from the ashes stronger and right the wrongs they suffered. This story is exactly that, but the beatdown never stops. It's stuck in the first part and the minute you think this might be getting somewhere and this story might have a hint of resolution, the protagonist is INSTANTLY pulled back down. And oh boy does it go far down. The misery that the protagonist goes through is not only constant during every. single. chapter., it's so intense that the sheer absurdity of it all made me laugh at some points. I cannot begin to describe how bad it is, it's like the author made a list of every single bad thing that could happen to a human and did their best to make it all happen to the MC, ideally all at once. After 500 pages of it it just loses all meaning, it's like the author cannot bring themselves to have the MC not be in literal constant pain. It's a testament to the the skill of the author at making characters you care about that I read through more than 500 pages of this. I think at this point I can start seeing maybe the beginning of some resolution but if the story pulls another shitty rug pull and the torture porn starts again, I'll be dropping this faster than you can say ''qi"...

Readers were specifically promised this would not be a torture porn story, about 4? 5? chapters in. At current chapter, that promise have not been delivered, which I personally find rather insulting. Why promise something if you aren't going to deliver on it?
Anyway, onto the meat of the matter.
For a cultivation story, there's been surprisingly little of it so far other than some vague descriptions of things changing and the MC becoming gradually more healthy. Not bad, per say, but I personally had hoped for some more progress at this stage, to balance out all the abuse that's been heaped on her. Instead it's borderline stagnation for 24 chapters straight. And with a complete lack of eldritch horror.. like, hello? Where's my eldritch abomination?!
There's some very healthy and honestly quite funny humour that has me laughing more often than not. If that's the kind of stuff the author could fire off on the fly, they'd probably have a genuine chance at a career as a stand-up comedian.
The MC is probably the definition of enduring and stubbornness. She just never quits. Not exactly a unique talent for MC's in stories like these, but combined with the copium humour it's had me enjoying the story enough to keep me going. But after reading reviews to get a sense of when the torture will end, I'll probably end up dropping it here. Seems to be still going strong at chapter 60+
The writing is smooth and easy to digest. No awkward phrases to stumble over and no glaring grammatical effects (you can probably tell by now that grammar isn't my strong side anyway hah)
If it wasn't because promises were made that weren't kept, and the stale progression I'd definitely have given this a 4 solid stars. But I feel that if you promise something and choose not to deliver on it, well, that's bad manners.

The story and grammar are really good but this review is for xianxia readers.
If you read a lot of xianxia the way the character is able to fight people above her realm  will be so off putting and weird to you. I kid you not, at a point she was basically a mortal and she beat a nascent soul cultivator, that should tell you all you need to know. It’s best to treat it as a wuxia cause this is definitely not a xianxia.
