Shit. Where the hell am I supposed to start?

Hi. My name is Bethany Estrada-Rosenthal, but my friends just call me Rosie. I’m an eighteen-year-old apocalypse survivor and a government-trained soldier. A Martian, according to the common man. Upholders, defenders, and enforcers of Martial Law in America. Heroes one and all.

At least, that’s what I believed. Then I died and everything changed.

Redshift in its current state shows a lot of potential. The premise and setting interesting, consisting of a post-apocalyptic Earth where demons roam, lit entirely by a swollen, red sun. The main character, Rosenthal, is faced with a major, complex dilemma that keeps the story driven in a compelling direction: Is she a demon, or not?
As far as I've read, it still feels as if the meat of the story and the settiing has yet to be explored, the story mostly consisting so far of Rosenthal navigating the bizzare situation she has been placed in. This consists of a lot of action scenes. I'm excited to see more of Redshift's worldbuilding, as everything I have seen so far in that department has me very intrigued.
The story takes place from Rosenthal's point of view, which gives us a fun insight into her character, along with making the style of the story as a whole very interesting, as it's taken in from her lens. Most other characters in the story aren't very well-developed, but this is made up for by Rosenthal's fun narration and the strength of her character as a whole. The conflicts Rosenthal is presented with gives the reader an interesting insight into her character.
My biggest criticism of Redshift is the clarity of the writing, especially during action scenes (which there are many of). The flavorful writing style is fun to read, but at times it can be hard to tell who is who, what is what, who is doing what, and when things are happening. I have had to backtrack and reread some passages a few times to better understand a few scenes in the story. This sort of issue is easily fixed with editing, but it is notable nonetheless due to the number of confusing action sequences I've read.
As a whole, though, Redshift shows a very strong start. I've pasted some of my favorite lines in the first four chapters of the story below.
“One of those itchy trigger fingers? Guess what? It scratched.”
”Humanoid canines with stretched limbs and swollen red flesh, as if all their blood h
