- VeynnRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Sein Ares really pulls you into the story from the get-go. There’s already a very nice, scenic, illustration of a city at the start of chapter, which was a great surprise! And speaking of surprises, there were many twists and turns in the story, none of which I was able to predict.
The setting is really unique as well, since it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world with humans who developed magical powers. It seemed to be an amalgamation of a Medieval setting, along with basing certain elements and characters on South East Asian culture.
Red Moon had a very snappy & cinematic flow to it! I enjoyed this novel immensely, but my rating is a four solely due to some of the more adult elements. They were necessary to really highlight the dark atmosphere of this book, but I think this part is just due to the fact that I’m unfamiliar with this genre.
Lastly, I found myself getting attached to the main characters such as Elizabeth Raven and her cousin, Jenny Raven. There were also other very crucial players in this novel, such as Leo, an endearingly kind man who ends up traveling with Elizabeth, and Mia, a blue-haired ninja-esque character—and my absolute favorite person in this story. I’d say more, but if you want to meet the rest of the cast, I’d highly recommend purchasing this book!
