Reborn, Kal wasn't just given a second chance at life; he was given a core with unlimited potential.

Kal left his old life with nothing but regrets—a dull job and a string of “maybe laters.” Only at the end did he realize how much he’d left undone. Now, reborn in a world of magic, fantasy races, and vast continents to explore, he can live the life he wishes he had.

Except there’s a catch. Kal carries a dangerous secret—a demonic core pulsing within him. Both a gift and a curse, the core that grants him mana and power also marks him with demonic energy—a deadly predicament in a world where demons are hunted and despised.

To make the most of this life, Kal will need to learn all there is to know about magic and this new world as he strives for power to survive and thrive in a world filled with danger and the supernatural.

What to expect?

Great read with world building and character development. It's starts a little slow but picks up and hooks the reader.  The power progression isn't broken but does provide the protagonist an edge compared to his peers. I'm only on chapter 14 but I'm looking forward to reading the whole series as quickly as possible.

This book does a very good unique spin on this genre of reincarnated as a baby. The story and plot is gripping. The writing is excellent with just enough details to make characters memorable and life-like.
Although the protagonist is eager and may make mistakes that causes harm, it is quickly resolved. Some may not like the recklessness but it is still good for keeping tension in the story to keep you in the edge of your seat.

First, let me say, I am not too experienced in the genre. I’ve watched anime, and read the entirety of he who fights with monsters. I’ve been doing research on what to read next, and I expect to pick up the cradle series. I’ve tried picking up stuff on royal road in the meantime and it’s been really difficult as almost all of what I’ve tried really sucks. Or at least isn’t up to the same qualities of He Who Fights With Monsters, which itself can be rambley sometimes. Special shoutout to Runesmith, for sucking so hard that it encouraged me to start writing myself. Anyways, just keep in mind for context, that I am inexperienced in LitRPG and isekai so I’m not burned out on any tropes that might be pervasive. Now onto the actual review for whatever this was called. Reborn with a demon core?
Right off the bat, I really enjoyed the dialog between father and son in the pre 3 years old arc. I like the dad. He is a reserved, grizzled veteran, now professor so the “character flaws” that some people complain about make sense. This is my first review on RoyalRoad so forgive the structure.
There were very few grammatical errors.
Story is fine so far. Kid is trying to make the most of his new life, and is trying to avoid being found out and unalived.
K, here’s where the “problems” are. The Characters.
First let me say, reincarnated with memories does not mean reincarnated with the same endocrine system. Of course the kids got hormones pulsing through his body. Why would that not affect his actions/mental state. Do people not remember being 14 and an absolute depraved human being? I’m not saying MC is depraved, but being in a little kid body might just you act more like a little kid. Who would have thunk. Also, if you want him to progress not just with numbers, but as a character, you’ve gotta start somewhere right?
Also, just as an aside, I love the way he does internal dialogue.
As for the dad, I feel like the author made it relatively clear that people don’t survive possession

Of a recent light novel trend, but this isn't a reincarnated demon lord or exorcist, it's just a dude isekaid over who isn't a pervert and is pretty solid at magic, and has the family and friends he lacked in his previous life. It's not the most original concept, but it's well written and interesting, and worth following.

I like this story so far - it follows Kal, reincarnated middle aged man, fairly standard for an Isekai story. And granted, especially in the early chapters, Kal isn't all that pleasant of a person. But, from what I can tell, its somewhat understandable. He died, in a way that I think he believes unfair, and now he has to deal with babies? And suffer through relearning basic actions after being reborn as a baby himself? I'd be rather sour too.
But, he gets considerably better. Stops being quite so sour. Starts thinking about others more. He isn't a perfect person, and, to be honest, this book handles the 'reborn as a baby with an adult mind' theme decently well - it skips a lot of the undesirable stages, and merely makes note of important or notable events. I like it. Now, obviously it needs a bit of work, and is nowhere near perfect.
    But who is?

I normally do not leave reviews, but this story made an impact. And I hope the author doesn't get discouraged by criticism (i doubt it considering they are way past where I dropped and already received heavy criticism.) but reflects on the stories shortcomings and fixes them.
Style: The writing style is good. I can find no faults in it. I also didnt get very far so there is that.
Story: The story is interesting, and the magic system seems interesting. I rate it at 4 because it had no obvious flaws, but could still be improved. Although much of the plot seems to revolve around "I got a second chance at life, lets do a speedrun and complain about everything!".
Grammar: I did not notice any grammar issues.
Character: While all the other characters but the mc were written well and felt alive and relateable, the MC whether by design or accident was the worst MC I have ever had the displeasure of reading from the pov of since I stopped reading harem novels.
the MC is complete trash. and i do not say that lightly. he hates children to the extreme, and while i can understand some of his frustrations the way he handles it is absolutely horrid. He treats his parents like trash, disregards all curtesy and breaks every rule that was made known to us, he constantly takes huge risks for little to no reward, and he acts like an emo preteen with a stick up their bum.
you cant even chalk it up o hormones or something caused by his new body -- because even if he was influenced by his hormones he has the mind of a 42 year old and should be capable of reflecting on his actions even if it takes him a day or two. he should at least notice that he has been feeling different from his past life or acting on emotion more -- even if he doesnt notice he has changed he should still know when he gets emotional.
like have you ever acted really immature at work and thought nothing of it, then later when your trying to sleep you think about it and beat yourself up from embarrassment? the MC does no

    Overall
I'd like to say that there's a story here that could be interesting.  However, the way it's being told is not working out.  This series needs a lot of work which I'll address below.
    Style
Pretty standard Isekai story.  Not a fan of how the author approaches MC's childhood.  His growth is rushed way too fast and none of the characters deal with it well.  It's almost like the author is trying to break Isekai records with how fast the MC develops.  The magic system seems ok and might be interesting as the story progresses.
    Story
As with most Isekai, the MC is only focused on acquiring more power as to not squander his second lease on life.  There's not much of a story here beyond that so far.  The MC interacting with other kids is painful to read and easily skipped as it's mostly filler.  I would consider adding some goals for the MC to work towards to maybe add some stakes to the narrative.  Right now MC just wants to get stronger for no reason other than getting stronger and that's pretty boring.  Adding goals might add more hooks to keep people interested and give them a preview of where the MC is headed in the story.
    Character
None of the characters in this story are good.  MC is supposed to be a middle aged man in a child's body and sometimes acts like that but mostly acts like a dumb kid.  MC's dad is the worst character by far.  His apathy towards MC who is ostensibly his possessed son is just unworkable as a concept.  These characters all need tons of work to try and make them more consistent, interesting, and believable.
    Grammar
Grammar is mostly ok with a few errors per chapter.  Nothing major though.

    Let's make this quick.
The protagonist is an unlikeable moron.
    The end.
    You want more? Fine!
Kal, a 42 year-old reincarnated man, is condescending towards other - mentally normal for their age - children when they want to play and he treats his loving mother with contempt despite her showing him nothing but genuine affection and support.
Sounds great so far? Then I got you covered because there's more!
His mom is also rather foolish in that she wants to hide his unnaturally rapid growth, yet at the same time puts him into situations that make hiding said things much more difficult and go against her son's wishes and personality, which she should know as his mother.
As for his father, he's apathetic towards Kal when he should be going insane over the possibility that someone took over his child's body. I know... that's the totally normal reaction of a devoted parent.
And lastly, the protagonist is a fool in every conveivable way.
    In a nutshell...
Father: "Don't use magic in public! The repercussions could destroy our family!"
    Protagonist: "Hold my beer!"
Overall, characters in this story are basically non-existent. They're either fundamentally terrible and/or inconsistent at every turn.
That aside, worldbuilding is nothing exciting so far because we haven't had much, albeit not bad for the same exact reason, and plot... well, what plot? The most rewarding quality of this story is by far the solid grammar with few mistakes.
Sure, the worldbuilding might turn out to be fantastic eventually, and so might the plot, but unless Kal gets a complete do-over in terms of personality and starts acting his age, I can absolutely not recommend this.

So I’m not one who usually writes reviews but I just couldn’t recommend this one. The MC just always seems to come off as an A-hole for no real justifiable reason and seems to have some sort of superiority complex. If this isn’t off putting to you then I feel the story is written out quite well and could be worth a read. Will edit with better input after further reading.

Making account just to leave a Review for this fiction.
i don’t like it. It really is hard to read the way MC behave. They promise us with competent and smart MC, they lied.
The characters around MC is acting really weird(as their role should be ex: the Father)
Again, I only manage to read up to 10 chapters before decided that this story is way hard to read(I hate how MC behave)
    Average premise too.
