I recently stumbled upon Shadowborn, and even though only two chapters are out, I’m already hooked! The story starts off in a very intriguing way—Mark, the protagonist, finds himself in an unfamiliar world without any idea how or why he got there. From the very first moment, the descriptions of the new world are incredibly vivid, making it easy to imagine the massive city below him, the grand castle, and the noble people going about their lives. It’s clear that there’s a lot of depth to the setting, even though we’re only getting a small glimpse of it so far.
What really caught my attention was the transition from the floating city view to the sudden fall. The way Mark panics and processes what’s happening feels very real, and it’s a nice break from the usual "calm and collected" protagonists in these kinds of stories. The moment where he falls through the ground instead of hitting it was unexpected and set up a really eerie and mysterious tone. And then, when he lands in a dark realm filled with shadowy figures bowing to him, I genuinely got chills. There’s something unsettling yet exciting about that whole scene, and it leaves so many questions unanswered—who are these figures? Why are they treating him like someone important? And most of all, what is that massive shadowy entity watching over him?
I also liked that the protagonist, Mark, doesn’t just accept everything immediately. He’s confused, a bit scared, and even tries to make sense of things with humor, which makes him feel more relatable. His reactions are natural, and it’s fun to see him struggle with the reality of what’s happening to him. And then, just when things couldn’t get weirder—boom! He wakes up in a completely different body. That reveal was handled really well, and I loved how his shock was shown. The mirror scene was a nice touch, and I could practically feel his frustration and disbelief.
Overall, the story has a great mix of mystery, suspense, and humor. It’s still too early to tell where th
