Description

Life isn’t fair. But not everyone is willing to lie down and accept that fact. A man known only as “Echo” fought back against the oppressive regime that smothered his chance for a normal life, and succeeded. Victory was within his grasp, but just as he believed he could rest easy, he was betrayed by the one man he thought he could truly trust.

Reborn into a world of magic and mystery, “Echo” is given another chance at life as Ikarus Velor, and he intends to use it to the fullest. Unbeknownst to him though, his reincarnation into this new world may carry more significance than he’d like.

Story: The story up until this point has been the childhood arc and the heavy emphasis on jumping forward in the timeline as we are introduced to new things and characters. As of chapter 6 the jumps seem to be stopping at least for a while to focus on Ikarus's interactions with a noble house and the shenanigan's around it. The childhood arc was fine and shouldn't bother anyone. We've already seen some of his rebellious aspects up until this point and I hope it continues to be shown off.
Character: Ikarus as a character before reincarnation is someone we don't learn much about other than he is a bad-ass which is fine. Moving on to his new life he is fascinated by magic and growing the skill but it isn't explained yet or dismissed when reasons are brought up. The other characters I haven't formed much of an opinion on yet which could be seen as good or bad. The family is nice and the brother and sister dynamic is one I like.
Grammar and Style: The editing and writing overall for the story are good and I didn't notice anything while reading. The style the author has chosen is done well.

Rebirth of the Rebel is a pleasant, tropey story about the adventures of a kid that learns magic way too early compared to his peers. The magic system itself is a recognizable element-based one, with mana, fireballs and whatnot.
The story is quite simple, as it focuses first and foremost on our protagonist as he grows up and learns magic from an early age on. It's nothing new, it's not badly executed, but something I definitely think could be improved is the amount of exposition dumped early on. Having exposition occur naturally and especially not dumping a lot of it in the first few chapters is a something the story could use. Other than that, it stays true to a few defining themes, namely 'Magic', 'Op-protagonist' and 'Revenge'.
The characters are fine and we even get to see a few paragraphs out of each of their perspectives. This POV-hopping is overheaded by a header telling us whose POV this is, thereby evading the common mistake of head-hopping between multiple characters in the same paragraph or even sentence. The side-characters may seem a bit simple and two-dimensional as for now, but that could very much so just be down to the amount of screen-time every character has gotten compared to our protagonist.
If I had one pet piece I would like to adress, then it is that the protagonist acts nothing much like an actual child and that everyone around them just accepts it as fact.
The style is definitely on the better side of the massive pile of web-fiction available. It doesn't stand out too much in either the good or bad direction.
The grammar is very good. I noticed very few if any grammatical errors over the course of my reading. When it comes to tenses, I'd love to see a bit less use of 'had'-past tenses. Otherwise, it's all gucci.
I give this story a 4/5 because while I am intrigued to see where exactly this story is going to go, I have frankly read quite a lot of other stories with a similar premise. In my eyes, whether the author will manage to put a unique
