Rebirth of the Forgotten King [Reincarnation, Progression]

Self-Published

Description

Adrian used to be a king... or at least he's pretty sure he was.

Now, he's a baby, and an orphaned one at that. He lives in a convent cared for by nuns, but while life is comfortable, the (probably) former king always has greater ambitions.

Although his memory is foggy, he still remembers how to use magic. Now, Adrian will have to use what little he remembers to grow and learn what he and the rest of the world seem to have forgotten

What to expect?

-MC won't spend too long as a baby, most of the action is when he's a kid.

-Steady growth starting from childhood

-Competent MC

This story's still in its early stages, but it shows a lot of promise. The writing quality is great; the prose is clean and flows well, and the descriptions are vivid without feeling flowery.
The pace so far has been a little on the slower side, but the story uses it as a chance to world build and create depth. The magic system is very detailed and clearly well thought-out, and while we haven't seen much of the characters yet, they have distinct personalities that play off each other well. I'm excited to see what happens next; this is definitely a story to keep an eye on!

Overall the book was an absolute joy and I just really hope it's taken off of hiatus at some point!
    STYLE
The writing style was great! It gave me a clear idea as to what was happening without bogging me down with details. I also like the internal monologs of the MC (Adrian) since they were realistic without being Intrusive or overly long.
    STORY
I really enjoyed the story, there was one very minor thing
I was wondering if Adrian would be an amazing dancer since he used to be a king, but ig not. But that could've been from missing memories and being raised by nuns
That I wondered about, but I don't think it really matters in the end. The author did a great job Maki me ask 'what's going to happen next?' At just about every point in the story. It was very interesting and engaging for me.
    CHARACTER
All of the characters were very interesting and distinct. The author also did a great job with how they interacted with each other.
I also liked that the MC wasn't as prideful as he was in his previous life, I liked characters to, well, have good character
    GRAMMAR
The author did a good job overall, but there were a few minor typos (missing a space after a period, added an extra letter (I think?), things like that). they accidentally had the same paragraph two times in a row (this only happened once). I didn't feel like any of it really interrupted my reading at all.
Overall, amazing job and I wish there was more.

It's good. The first few chapters for me was awkward, since he was literally a baby, but after we got out of that, it got really good. My favorite part right now is
him living with the adventurers and going to the adventurer test
The magic system is good, and unique in a way I haven't seen implemented before. Overall, this is a good read, and I'm glad I read it!

The story is very fast-paced jumping from event to event to event even including the slice of life portions which is not a bad thing but it can stop the story from breathing or actually allowing the readers to actually process the details being revealed. Otherwise the story is good, the characters are nicely written and stick to previously described personalities so far.

    Overall
I appreciate that the author has been experimenting with various genres over his different works, so I look forward to how he tackles the reincarnation genre with this book. That said, at the time of this review, this story is off to a good, albeit slower paced start.
    Characters
As of the time of this review, the story focuses on a very small cast (with three key individuals), which allows us to get to know the characters in more depth. While they have a charming dynamic between each other so far, I feel that the core personalities and motivations of the characters are not focused upon so much, so it's a little difficult to connect with them for now. I do hope this will change as the story progresses.
    Story
I personally enjoy the slice of life-esque pacing as the main character learns to adapt to his new life. Stakes start out pretty low now, though I have no doubt that it will build up naturally over the course of the story. For me, the main highlight of the story is the magic system. The way it is presented makes me feel that I am learning about it alongside the main character, and I'm interested to see its practical applications as the story progresses.
    Style & Grammar
The writing style is quite simple, clean, and easy to follow. Negligible grammatical mistakes.

Our main character wakes up as a baby in a new world with nothing but hazy memories of a past life as a king.
The initial setup of the story is handled as several one-year timeskips per chapter, which give us a great introduction to the world, the magic system, and allow us to get to know our main character, Adrian.
Time as an infant is short and well written.
Once Adrian gets a little older, he makes a friend - an unusual girl called Seven who has a mysterious background that is slowly trickled out.
The characters in this story are delightful - our MC is thoughtful and his view on the world is fresh and kind - even as he struggles with visions from his previous life.
Seven is awesome. Love this character already. Dark past with scary magic, however she is earnest and hard working, and really wants a friend.
Grammar is top notch, prose flows so well that it's hardly noticeable as the story unfolds. A lot of care has obviously gone into describing the scenes and the world, making it feel richer and fuller, flowing far from the edges of the pages.
I quite like the easy build, but it hasn't taken long to get into some real action, so the pacing is right on.
Excellent work, I'm looking forward to more!

I like the story, it's cool to see a story using the Elder Scrolls classes of magic (that's the place I know them from, maybe they're from somewhere else) without being just a fanfiction set in the world of the games. Don't get me wrong those are good too but this is a cool change.
The only thing I have to criticize about it so far is that the opening chapters feel like the time skips are a bit too much. I get that having a story where the mc starts as a baby necessitates a fast progression at the start but I feel like it could have been done a bit better.
Either way I think this is a promising start and is worth checking out

The premise is interesting. But the execution is not fantastic. It's kinda like reading a rough draft. If the author got some beta readers or a friend to do some quick QA reads, this story would definitely be a favorite of mine. If I see anything about a rewrite I'll pick it back up.

Feels like a good story but it has weird holes like it hasn't been looked over or proofread. I would definitely read this if it wasn't so jumpy and awkward to read. It is somewhat painful skipping random pieces of dialog constantly. Please have a few people look over the story.

I dont review much at all, I dont read reviews. I give everything I read a fair chance ... and I tried really really hard to give this a fair chance. I've read over 80 chapters, and all I can say is I was so excited with the potential for this story, but author you squandered its potential. It's still there but with every single chapter I feel it less and less. This is not a "author is bad at writing" review. I think you've done a great job with a lot of the chapters but so often it reads as if you had plots and plans and you just wrote them all out in order and thats what im reading. There's so little transition so little flow, between granted good ideas. Also this part is just solely my and my opinion alone and doesn't reflect how others might feel but the MC is kind of ... too much go where the wind takes me kind of personality. And it shows inconsistencies with the backstrory of the MC.

For example how does a baby/child, ask strangers to take care of him (Marcus and Anise) and they just agree (no questions asked or at least shown being asked) and then there's a literal time skip right after he's going to ask them, showing none of the bonding between them or any struggles or doubts from the adopting parents (kind of). Still I rolled with that break in story that felt so unexplored. Then comes the time where MC is escorting Natasha as a bodyguard, forget the lack of curiosity shown about a 3 year younger bodyguard etc, I focused on his nervousness and his thoughts about the ball. Wasn't he a tyrant king and remembers himself as such. Are we saying he cant remember once being amongst nobles ? Maybe thats a stretch on my part to expect but kinda ruined my immersion (again just my opinion). And the final blow that made me stop reading and actually write a review is the Principal blatantly using him and clearly manipulating him and he just.... goes with the flow? You are telling me that despite what happened between him and that noblist teacher and
