- InyssaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First off, what an amazing prologue. It's rare to find a hook to the story that works so well, but this one does that and then some, telling you exactly what the story will be about in a tragic and beautiful way.
I can really only give this one five stars across the board. There's nothing in the chapters I've read so far that I could quibble about, no real nitpicks either.
The prose, which is something a LOT of Litrpg writers struggle with, is sharp and effective, exchanging long blocks of prose with short yet impactful sentences that stab into you when something horrible happens. It speaks of the skill of a seasoned author, and it makes everything a lot better.
So far only two characters could be called 'protagonists', and while we haven't gotten to see their personalities in depth in only 3 chapters, what little we get about them (both as adults and as children) is more than enough to endear the reader to them. I'm always rooting for them.
The story so far depicts the MCs' latest reincarnation, and possibly their last, with everything stacked against one of them. It's simple but effective, giving you a goal to stride for and a million obstacles in the way. And like I said before, the character writing makes you root for them without questioning.
Like I said before, I didn't catch any grammar mistakes or awkward sentences, nothing to complain about.
This is the kind of Litrpg I like to read, with an interesting premise, compelling characters and incredibly tight prose. Give it a try for sure, - Liam HillsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Story:
The story follows two main characters who live completely different lives, yet are still connected. They contrast each other perfectly, and it makes for an engaging story. The prologue chapter was very well written, and sets up the rest of the story perfectly. It was fun watching them grow up, and see how different their circumstances were.
Grammar:
Pretty much perfect. Didn't notice any errors, or badly worded sentences. No problemsh here.
Style + character:
I mostly like the style of how it was written, but there is one small issue I have which takes it down one step. We rarely get to see their inner thoughts. This also bleeds over to the character score. We know a lot about their circumstances, and their goals/motivations, so that's all good, but I would like to have known a little more about their actual personalities and how they react to certain situations etc.
Still, the good MASSIVELY outweights the bad, so they're by no means bad. It's also very possible this issue gets addressed later on. Either way, they're still very interessting characters, and the fact that I want more from them just proves that :P
Overall:
It's a well polished story with an interresting concept, intriguing characters, and a really good prologue. Definitely check it out if you're on the fence. - TheSpoonThatDiedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The title says it all, this is a really underrated piece of work. I am not really in the habit of writing reviews (i think this is my first review on rr lol) but I felt that this one deserved it :D
I could not recommend this enough. Very enjoyable (😔) read!
