Reality Grants One Chance

Description
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point...
Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always..
....
Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on..
Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster..
Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet.
Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

- EnyhryeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5First of all: I did not rate style or grammar because my english is too poor to evaluate anything better than the story written by 8yr old.
Second: I would like to adress AAPJUHs review because... if a story has 15 reviews one stupid review won't change anything. But if there is like 3, people may believe it. So AAPJUH gives this story OVERALL score of 1,5/5 stars because he does not like slow stories, character and world developing. This is extremly unfair, there is much more to a novel than its pace. Even if you don't like the pace of this one it has many strong points and does not deserve 1,5 stars of overall score.
Ok, let's get to the real review. I would say this story is closest to... rational, real human being gets transported to another world. Another real world. Not a half japanese yolo moron transported to a world conveniently created so he can do whatever he likes and never has to struggle for anything. Human being make mistakes. If not because they are stupid than just because in life most of the time there is no perfect choice, you don't have all the information before you choose. Even smartest person do what is rational, logically best and hope it works - sometimes it doesn't and your 'mistake' might irreversibly change your life. This is that kind of story. MC has to fight for fire, fight for water, struggle for food, sweat for every piece of information. No plot armor, no random op grandpas, no help from gods or devils. What AAPJUH calls a "random unneeded info/thoughts" I call a rational real human being that is seriously concerned for his life. He NEEDS! to think. The story uses real survival tactics and takes into consideration real threats. You wake up in unknow place, full of unknown flora and fauna - you can't just go around eating and drinking whatever on a basis of "this looks like a rabbit-goat, it can't be bad for you right?duh".
This is one of the most 'rationally viable' works of RRL that i found. It is slow but if you want a MC and not - epiclobsterRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5All I can say is the horror tag is very well deserved in chapter 26-27. And hobboskin's comment about things not being described in detail is deffinetly not an issue for these two chapters
- HobboskinRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I wanted to write a review for this story because I hope the author continues to write it. In typical Royal Road fashion, it appears to have been ignored despite being a great read.
First of all, I think the biggest problem with the story is the blurb. it really doesn't give an indication of what the story is really about. This may be on purpose, but it doesn't do the story justice. For those interested
Spoiler:
the main character is transported to a fantasy world sound familiar? Great because that is where the similarities end. Our MC is stuck in the middle of a wilderness/jungle with only his broad internet knowledge on useless topics and zero survival skills. Armed with pants and a jagged piece of glass, our MC has to fight to survive and there is no cheat like skills to save you here.
The grammar is fairly good I can't detect any glaring issues just the odd mistake so no problems there. The story suffers a little from pacing issues early on but this changes as things happen at more regular intervals later. Characterisation is difficult to talk about for various reasons. Considering the slower pacing in the beginning, this might have been an opportunity to have some flashbacks that help flesh out the characters history.
Things could be described a little more in depth but there was no point where I didn't have a good mental picture of the action. This story will be polarizing I don't think it is something everybody will love but do give it a chance as I definitely think its worth a go.
