Description

Fed up with a world where science has made every fantasy a reality and people just don’t care about stories anymore, a young video game developer named Kai uses ancient black magic to transport himself into one of his games, titled:Choices.

Disturbed by his powerlessness on Earth, Kai makes sure to give himself the ability to change this new world as he sees fit, literally.

If you were ridiculously powerful, would you throw away all your morals and do whatever you wanted?Would you find happiness? Would you find love? Or would you end up realizing that…

Absolute power is pretty depressing.

Note: The format for chapter titles is: “Overall_chapter_number POV_chapter_number: Chapter_title." Look at the POV chapter number to see who is narrating.

Although this is my first proper review on a fiction on RRL, I have read over 150 stories on RRL alone, and over 300 novels overall at the very least.
RE: WRITE is one of the most amazing fictiI'veever read, purely because of all the well thought out character development and intense plot. This is not about simple fights, wars, being an overpowered mc, no. This is about much more than that, but I won't try to spoil much in this review since this story is too good to be spoiled.
    Story
The plot in this is a very deep and well thought out plot that makes anyone who ends up reading this story think about life in general at least at some point. This is a guy who made RPG games for a living in a more futuristic world, and gets fed up with his powerlessness and uses some kind of magic to send himself to one of his first RPG's he created 900 years or so in the future.  To make is life fun, and to make sure he will never be powerless again, he gave himself a skill called RE: Write. This ability makes him literally rewrite anything and everything without limits. You might be thinking, wouldn't this just make the story boring and make all plots pointless? You are completely wrong because rewrite has a flaw, it is too limitless. Although I won't try to spoil too much, just think about what you would do if you could do anything but don't know if you should do anything at all. Oh and don't get me started on the plot twists, amazing! :D
Ps. Don't let the first 20 or so chapters fool you! The story has yet to begin!
    Characters
The characters in this story are very relatable as they aren't just some clichè individual who is there for the sake of the plot. There are no clichè's throughout the story and isn't anyone who seems like they don't belong in the story or should be involved in it more. It is all perfectly well throughout. There are many different POV's in this story, and they all help to develop characters making your heart ache when something depressing happens to them and b

This is the opposite of the classic OP JP day-to-day fluff (Such as Death March). It has the same aimlessness and OP MC, but instead of slowly developing the op powers and flat characters, RE:WRITE jumps to the point when everything is meaningless, because the reality of truely overpowered abilities are, as WhoCares? stated, 'depressing'. This story is a beautifuly written, thought provoking masterpeice.
That said, if you are looking for an easy read, I would not recomend this webnovel. The language itself isn't hard, but if you avoid the point of the novel hoping to get some juicy fights and easy comedy, there's not enough to sustain a reader. (I add this beacause I often enjoy an 'easy read', such as Library of Heaven's Path)
Also, I waited to finish the entire work before declaring judgment on it. It's too easy to either miss what an author intended, or have an author ruin the story with a terrible ending. In my opinion reviews made without having read the material are unfair and more often than not inaccurate. I'm happy to say that the author does not ruin this story with it's ending, but I do think that it's easy to lose interest in the middle. Again, I don't recommend this as an easy read: much of the aimlessness is setting up the end, but can be a slog.
Next: the reason I took of 0.5 of a star from style because I found that there were some inconsistencies in the pacing, and that from time to time I would have trouble identifying the perspective. The author uses both 'flaws' on purpose at many times throught the novel, which I apreciate, but other times I felt like the flaws were just getting in the way of the immersion.
Lastly, thank you WhoCares? for the great read!

I was searching for a novel with an OP MC, someone like Momonga sama, when I came across this. The added advantage was that this was a completed novel, all ready for being binged, and binge I did. Read the whole novel in one go, and I really enjoyed it.
Some may not like the initial intro chapters, but my recommendation is to soldier on. It has a somewhat different approach to getting to isekai rather than our typical suspects. Full marks to the author on originality.
However this same originality became suspect reading the chapter where our MC met the first denizen of the new world. It almost felt like a copy of Momonga sama meeting someone, and I really felt like throwing the novel away at this "copying". However I soldiered on. Good that I did it. The moral questions this novel raises over that incident are different.
This is a novel narrates through the eyes of mostly 4 people. It tends to be less from the perspective of the OP guy and more from others view. It is not like these others are hangers on - they are equally leads of this story. That's why I said this is not your typical OP protagonist novel in the subject of this review.
It is a good narrative style for this novel and is successfully done. Also the philosophical questions it raises over OPness is good.
Also it bucks the trend in that this novel is not about the "hero" trying to beat the "demon lord", or about trying to beat the gods and go back to Earth. It is a unique take on this genre.
If the "traumatising content" flag is putting you off this novel, I didn't see anything that you typically dont find in any novel.
Perhaps it is because they rescue a child who has been tortured. Some may not like it.
I am a person who does not like to read novels with such content, this was alright with me.
All in all, a good solid novel worth reading. No grammatical issues, and in most places a polished story telling. Please give it a go if you like Isekai novels.

Just want to get this out of the way, would have done 5 across the board for grammar if only for the one spelling mistake per chapter, nothing big or anything just i keep spotting one that said.. I'm rambling and ignore this.
Well. I can tell you this is origanal as heck, never seen a story like this. It's a very thought provoking story. I won't spoil it or anything but the stories Within The story are really good, and the songs the writer has wrote are also pretty good.
The characters are great, all original and themselves, no carbon copy clones with each perfect grammar and the same way of speaking.
The style of the story is also briliant and i would explain more into this but i'm terrible at that.

I can't believe I haven't found this before. It's so damn good! But there's one thing I'm happy about: I can binge read the whole thing! Don't have to wait for crap.
Anyhow, this is a GREAT story! I really, REALLY love it! A lot of people complain about all the different POV's at first, but afterwards, you guys will understand why it's there. Anyhow, all I need to say is that you must read it.

This story is not typical young boy trained in the arts of combat/magic goes on for revenge/quest to save the kingdom. This story is about a young man escaping a grim future, and exploring a new world. A theme that is admittedly used quite often, but with a new take. The MC practically has the power of God in this realm. A person may draw conclusions from that statement and think they know how this story is going to go down.  A simple look at the authors synopsis "Or would you realize that absolute power is pretty depressing", gives way for a different kind of story. A story where characters are given time to develop, with an interesting blend of action, plots, and honest to god thought on the readers part.
Now I really like this story, and easily spent 2-3 hours reading the first 19 chapters. That being said, there are a few peeves I have with the story. The intro is a little hard to get into, and I wager most casual readers would drop the series at chapter 2. It's simply confusing. Second, the MC is kinda unlikable in the 1st 5 chapters, if you're a predictor like I am and are fairly good at reading the flow and the pattern a story is going in, you may grow worried in the 1st 5 chapters thinking it's the same song and dance you've heard a million times. Then author brings it back and the story gets REALLY interesting. So to you casual readers out there, the 1st five chapters aren't what they appear to be. They set some important groundwork for the rest of the story, but if you skipped the 1st 3 chapters, a God, then you'll be good. Keep up the good work REWRITE.

I like the general idea that you went with about what it means to be OP, even so i think the mc is kinda stupid for not realising immediately the potential of his power.
But the most annoying thing is chapter 0, why do you spoiler the story?! I just can recomment everybody who hates spoilers to not read chapter 0. I cant be the only one who hates this kind of stroy telling methode of  jumping ~50 chapters ahead of time and than ending it whith a cliffhanger why do you do that?

Style 5/5: Author is amazing storyteller, even when a story is subpart.
Story 3.5/5: It seems like author tried to tell several different stories and failed to connect them together. It felt like world was static and events happened just so author could write a little bit more. Arcs had loose connections and honestly could be their own separate stories. Air kingdom island crashes; Dark kingdom academy. These two could be their own stories and honestly speaking could be written much better individually if they weren't connected. Instead I couldn't care less why characters did what they did. Too little time was spent on each individual arc to bring reader to care. Air kingdom was described as super advanced compare to other kingdoms, but you don't see it, as technological level of other kingdoms isn't connected to struggle of their citizens. Reach people in other kingdoms are still rich, slaves are the same in every kingdom. You would think that life of middle class is better in Air kingdom, but there's no comparation with others. All technology Air kingdom has feels meaningless, like all they have are toys. I can continue about other arcs and kingdoms, but it will take too long.
Grammar 5/5: Had no problem with it whatsoever.
Characters 3.5/5: I felt no connection with characters. There's no character development for Kai. There was a glimpse at it at the start and then when he was sealed, but that's it. I didn't care about him at all. And I can't understand Amy either. Author just throws her personality at us without showing us how it was built, she's one dimensional, while being main cast. Her falling in love with Kai was absolutely random. I was just confused about it. Didn't feel any joy for a couple. Runir and Lily are probably the most developed characters in the story and honestly speaking author should've just wrote about their story with no Kai bullshit that just killed all interest I had in this story. Other characters were even more of an afterthought and I

I really like the story but like the others who doesn't like too many POV, I am one of them. So I just skip the other POV and just read Kai's chapters.
