Description
From a universe shattered by cosmic forces, Lucas Maverick awakens in a dark, unrelenting cavern. Stripped of his humanity and senses, he finds himself trapped in the body of a mimic—a shapeless, alien form.
To survive this brutal world of predators and mysteries, Lucas must adapt, evolve, and master his newfound abilities. But the question remains: Can he hold on to the person he once was, or will he lose himself entirely to the instincts of his mimic body?
The path to freedom begins here, but it may come at a cost.
What to expect:
•Expansive world with its own rules and mechanics.
•Quite a bit of swearing (only the Mc does this).
•Mc goes from thrill seeker to semi deranged monster then to ???.
•A blend of fantasy and sci-fi.
•Horror/psychological elements and themes.
•Harsh and relentless circumstances.
•Overall I would recommend it for the whole family.

- JideroinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this so far. Though some character decisions feel more story motivated than realistic the novel as a whole still flows pleasently. Lucas is a fun if occasionally frustrating protagonist and he refreshingly isn't an unstoppable force of pure plot Armor. I would highly recommend reading this story and even if you're a bit put off at the start, as I admittedly was, I would suggest sticking through for a while to see if you like how it develops.
Great story, great world, can't wait to read more. - Space killerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"A universe disrupted by cosmic forces, mysteries at every turn, and a hero who transforms into a being completely different from himself—these are the ingredients of a story that leaves no one indifferent. The book immerses us in the world of Lucas Maverick, who wakes up in an alien body, a mimic, stripped of his humanity and forced to survive in a brutal environment. From the first pages, the tone is set: a story that is both intense and psychologically captivating.
What I truly appreciated is the way the author explores Lucas' internal struggle, torn between his instincts as a non-human creature and his desire to hold onto what makes him human. This internal conflict, well-written and poignant, gives the story a very special dimension. We follow Lucas in his quest for survival, while witnessing his gradual transformation, not only physical but also mental, adding a depth rarely seen in this type of narrative.
The universe in which Lucas exists is also a strong point. A vast world populated by strange creatures and mysterious forces, with its own rules and mechanisms. The elements of horror and psychological themes further enhance the intensity of the plot, offering moments of tension and reflection.
The RPG aspect that the author introduces through a progression system is a real treat for video game fans and immersive storytelling enthusiasts. This dimension not only adds interest to the story, but also allows for a deeper exploration of the hero's transformation.
Finally, the protagonist, although still solitary for now, is already well-developed. His dialogues are impactful, and his evolution promises many surprises. The other characters, though few so far, bring interesting nuances to the plot.
In summary, this book is a captivating experience, skillfully blending science fiction, horror, and psychology. I can't wait to read more and delve deeper into this intriguing universe." - smilodon88Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first chapter was solid—cool vibes, good pacing, a bit of urban edge with Lucas and his daredevil rooftop stuff. At first, it felt like just another teen-thrill story, but man... things escalated. Fast.
That whole shift from school chaos into cosmic horror into full-on existential nothingness was insane in the best way. The writing really captures that slow slip from normal to “what the hell is even happening” without ever feeling too rushed. Lucas’s perspective is both raw and relatable, even when he's literally turning into some blob-creature thing. (Yeah, that part was wild.)
The mimic transformation is gritty and uncomfortable at times, but it works. You really feel the horror of losing his body, the awkwardness of learning to move again, and then slowly, the empowerment creeping in. There's this constant tension between survival, identity, and pure body horror that just keeps pulling you deeper.
If I had one small nitpick, it’s maybe that the text descriptions can get pretty heavy—like, the details are rich but sometimes feel just a bit too much during slower moments. But honestly? It didn’t stop me from devouring it.
This story’s weird, dark, and kinda brilliant. If you like psychological survival with a creepy alien twist, definitely check this one out. I’m hooked. - AcokanfassRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Pretty great to be honest. Read at your own peril. Might get sucked in. 🐲🐲🦾🦿☃️🦠. Well probably a good idea is that make sure you know that the author is very kind and friendly. Furthermore I just need to fill this to 50 words. Beyond furthermore I am just filling with words sorry peeps who r eading this. Before the first furthermore I was genuine.
- MianighRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m not exactly sure how many thoughts to throw down in the comments here, but as a reader, I have a lot of thoughts.
My first thought is that I’m always down from an inhuman MC and especially an MC who was once human and has now become a monster. The parallel of humanity and barbarism is not an afterthought in this novel, which I appreciate. One of the main reasons why I’m writing this review is to not only boost exposure, but also to let the author know that I appreciated their chapters from another character’s perspective (spoiler warning) showing us just how far the MC has gone.
it’s really important in a progression novel, where the action can get quite repetitive, to continuously give the audience snapshots of where the MC is at, how the statistical progression is fundamentally changing them. That’s part of the catharsis for me, and that’s all I have to say.
Very well written! I hope to see more character growth and more hardcore-parkour. - Haremhater96Royal Road★★★ 3.0The concept is pretty good and i was looking forward to read this, too bad the mc is awful, from the way he thinks and acts he reads like he's 7, he feels like a cardboard cutout of a character and constantly makes decisions that make zero sense, and he is always almost going insane every major fight for some reason??? But at least the grammar is good.
- IvarthehomelessRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Could not keep Reading. The main character and the story could have been written by a child, It is clearly not planned and the author Just keep spamming things to make the story continue.
Style - Dialogue feels forced and the prose does not flow well
Story - Good premise, but terrible execution, the author does not decide on what should make Sense in this world and things are either not explained or retconned by having the opposite of what was said happening later on with no comment whatsoever.
Character - Cardboard 2-dimmensional main character, both as a human and as a mimic. Lacks any kind of emotion and his motivation comes from unexpected and out of place monologues, which just punches the reader in the gut and call him stupid.
Grammar - I was surprised that this was not one of the issues with this novel, with the state of the rest, I was expecting to find some quite ( meaning quiet) and the like, but no complaints here, Just the usual comma and minor errors.
That Said, It was not a story for me, but the premise is good, even If a bit Common by now, and If your are Reading solely for the mimic experience, or really love litRPG, It might serve you as a distraction to read while your favorite story is between chapters
