- AstarotheanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the subtle fighting between what the older version of Adom is and how younger Adom still affects the year of experience he has. From the hormones to slightly small reactions it’s amazing to make it something small in the background rather than assuming it would be a rewrite of old vs new.
he doesn’t have a “it’s up to me” because “that’s how he always has been” but more of what the disease made him become.
The detail to everything isn’t overwhelming or even underwhelming just showing us more and more about what’s going on because his determination is about saving the world. Once new things pops up we get more insight but that becomes more apparent that new things will show up and ahhhh it’s all exciting.
THANK YOU FOR THE HARDWORK, this is a masterpiece!!! - BecomingDarkerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not sure it's this is a story, novel, light novel or book, whatever it its, it's good, give it a try, you won't regret it,else I don't know XD, long time not reading a good one, and this cautivated myself, ................................................................................................l iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, really it saying reviews must be at leat 50 words, but I want to go back to read again .. let me go !!!!
- SilvarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0My schedule is quite busy and my time is precious to me. So the fact that you see me here writing this review speaks volumes. With the small amount of time I allow myself daily to read I keep finding myself coming back to this project. The writing is precisely what I look for in a good LitRPG now a days. The author uses a few well used tropes but those tropes are what they are because people like them, and I am no exception. His fresh take on the RE: sub genre invokes powerful emotional ties to the MC that has you reaching for tissue paper one second and standing in your chair cheering the next. One of my favorite characteristics of this book has to be its blend of the arcane with the futuristic. The technology is not so far fetched that you feel like your a million years separated from this story but not so close that you feel like your out for a gallon of milk either. The authors ability to weave in the subtle references that you as a reader may or may not pick up on but at least take note of is exceptional. I love reading a passage and feeling as if I found an easter egg in the writing. This happens continuously throughout his style and its a pleasure each time i catch one. I especially appreciate the fact that someone random in the story doesnt double back to said easter egg and point it out for everyone to marvel at how smart the writer is. Its a if you know you know situation and i love it. All and all this is an excellent book so far and I honestly will be sticking with this author for the long haul. Read it . Love it. I will see you guys for the rest of the series!!!!
- TheHaoboSpatulaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The novel is brilliant, encompassing realism into such a slow-burn story. The pacing was actually quite comfortable despite being rather slow, as the world-building effectively kept me engaged. I would definitely recommend this if you want something slow to chew on!
Style: The author's writing is simple yet powerful, painting vivid images with words. The descriptions of the sunset and the beach create a beautiful, yet melancholic atmosphere. The language is easy to understand, making the story accessible to a wide range of readers.
Story: This story is about Adom Sylla, a man facing the end of his life on a deserted beach. It's a deep and emotional tale, exploring themes of suffering, fate, and the desire for a different life. It's interesting and engaging.
Characters: Adom is the main character, and the story does a great job of showing his struggles and thoughts. He's a complex character, filled with regret and longing for a different life.
Grammar: The grammar is good, with clear sentence structure and appropriate word choice. The dialogue is realistic and helps to bring the characters to life.
Overall, this novel is an engaging and emotional read, drawing the reader into Adom's struggle. It leaves you wanting to know more about Adom's choice and his future. - VyStarlitRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First of all, I really enjoy the story. I like the creativity and imagination in the book. I love that there is so much mystery in the events that are building up and I'm just having a great time seeing what will happen next. Now onward to the details.
Style: The story moves at a slow pace that I sometimes feel can a be a bit meandering at times. This can be a drawback if you don't like that sort of slow pacing. But then something exciting happens and you're pulled back in. So there's this feeling of ebbs and flows that takes some getting used to but does fit the character's age, sort of like a grandfather looking off in the distance before being brought back to reality. It's not a bad style at all but takes some getting used to.
Story: This is a great story and I really like how the events are playing out. There's enough questions to keep me going with lots of solid action intermixed in. I'm curious about the events that happened in the past and the knowledge of the upcoming war. I'm also curious to see what the character plans to do with the knowledge. It's really great to see everything building up.
Grammar: No comments on that. I didn't see any issues with spelling or grammar.
Character: There's a lot of interesting characters in the story and I'm looking forward to seeing how things that pan out. Adom is a very interesting one and I think the author does a really good job of showing him as an old soul, literally. Another character I felt did a great job of shinning was Sam. I really adore him and he is definitely a sweet character that I only want good things to happen to.
I feel this story really has great potential and really dives into how heavy the knowledge of a dark future could be and how the character has this disconnect with the current world because of this. It really pulls me in and I'm already wondering how his current actions, especially in regards to his bully (an important figure in the past and in helping in the war) will play out. - Liam HillsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style:
The author was trying something new in tems of style, and my feeling was that they felt a little unsure of themselves or insecure. You have absolutely nothing to worry about! It definitely worked for me.
Grammar:
Grammar is good. I can't recall finding any mistakes.
Character/story:
This is the aspect I love the most. The story is about a sick old man who has struggled with an incurable disease his entire life. He is given a second shot at life, and I love the way he responds to it.
His first thought isn't to try to take revenge on his old bully, it's not to impress the girl he used to have a crush on, and it's not to become the strongest person ever. It's simply joy. He is overwhelmed with joy that he is a kid again.
He's able to talk to his childhood friend whom he had eventually drifted apart from. He can eat the awful soup they got at school again, and he can experience the city. Even his parents who had long since died, he was able to meet again. He doesn't take any of it for granted and is simply happy that he's able to experience the things he missed so much. Even when the bully is hitting him, he's smiliing in joy.
He's reacting exactly the way I'd expect someone in his position to react, making him feel very real.
Overall:
Great story so far. Give it a shot! - RedtherulerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story, I like the world building is great and the world feels lived in and makes you wanna learn more about it, and the MC is just the right level of caring that shows he’s a good guy but smart enough not to come off as naive. I can’t wait for the update
- JusthebestRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The beginning was so good but then the author ruined it by making it to where the MC loses most of his power if he dies. Doing this makes his immortal status completely useless in my opinion.
I feel like the author essentially crippled his mc before he even got to utilize his immortality.
After all, what's the use of immortality if you are still afraid to die? - PxslRoyal Road★★★ 2.5It started off alright but once the novelty wore off it became difficult to read, especially in chapter 63 which could’ve been 2/3rds the length or given more useful information instead of being repetitive. Dialogue and inner monologue are supposed to convey personality through inflections and mannerisms, but in this story every character is portrayed identically in those aspects, almost like an AI is writing the first draft and the editing fails to inject humanity.
Grammar is good apart from the convoluted sentence structures that would read better simplified / broken up.
The plot is okay, it was definitely better (maybe around 4 stars) in the beginning, but the story got trapped by paradoxical narrative choices and has deteriorated in recent chapters. Maybe once this arc ends it’ll start making more sense?
It’s not too late to save the story but a lot needs to be improved on, maybe even some retcons like changing / removing the dying penalty so it doesn’t prevent high stakes encounters where the mc actually fails for once.
Advanced Reviews must be at least 200 words long Advanced Reviews must be at least 200 words long Advanced Reviews must be at least 200 words long - vijayherwadeRoyal Road★★ 2.0Its like little bit of every other story on royalroad. Nothing makes sense. So much inconsistency that I gave up. MC is suddenly powerful then suddenly useless. Level of people and their powers don't make sense. Even the story is like ticking a checklist with no sense. I don't write reviews very often but this just made me mad.
