Description
Bernard,KennyandCádohadn't intended to do anything particular when writing their novel. However they find themselves magically transported into the world they created. Unfortunately for them, it's far from a nice and gentle fantasy world.
They’ll need to work together to advance in the cruel lands they created, but first comes survival. And if they're able to feed themselves, they might be changed in doing what is needed to ensure that. Because people react differently to strife and power, and you never quite know what a person will do in a given situation until it’s done.Schedule: Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.

- All for TommorowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Right from the prologue, this has had me hooked. I absolutely appreciate how ORAR has brought this intriguing concept to life. The question of how a writer might handle the situation if suddenly transported to a world of their making has always been an interesting one, and while they’ve been some explorations of this, it’s quite clear that this is delightfully unique.
First off, the characters – each of the 3 mc’s are fully fleshed out, from their quirks, to personality and speech pattern, ORAR has clearly improved their craft. I particularly love Solitaire and can’t wait to read all the unhinged things he’d get to. Kenny (Shango) is an absolute delight, though it feels like his charisma would get him into more than he can handle. Finally Cado, the man who endures, hopefully this world doesn’t change him too much.
Style – The three perspectives is definitely an interesting choice that could go very badly very quickly, however, ORAR seems to be handling it perfectly, so much so it feels delightful.
Story – While still quite early in the book, the story has been quite promising and seems to be headed in an interesting direction. Isekai can be tricky to work with as they often follow the same templated premise, however, having three protagonists as the creators of this world gives this a fresh feel which is quite promising.
Grammar – Well done. ORAR clearly has a grounded understanding of flow, diction, grammar and general writing. If any error exists, it’s definitely insignificant as there were no hiccups reading this. - DarveneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The characters are the best part of this novel, hands down. I don't usually enjoy books with muliple p.o.v., but this was an extremely well-done, with characters that feel fleshed out, realistic, and incredibly interesting. The dynamic between the main three is utterly captivating, and seeing it from each of their perspectives is completely worth it.
The world building is brutal, the story has an edge, but it isn't overwhelming or unrealistic. It's grimdark, but in a way that is captivating and subtly hopeful rather than a bombartment of negativity with no reprieve. It feels like a real world, one that's pretty shitty but in a way that makes sense and allows the exceptional characters to shine.
The story is interesting plot wise as well, developing naturally and believably. The threats faced are realistic and difficult, the progression is slow but steady and undeniable, the antagonists are generally fairly competent and infuriating.
Style wise, each of the different p.o.v. has subtle differences in how they tell their story that is interesting and distinct, tying to their unique skillset and worldview. The smarter characters are more descriptive of details while the characters better at fighting do a better job with the subtitles of combat, and you can usually tell who's p.o.v you're reading even without being told. Not only that, but there are occasionally flash-back chapters that are placed extremely well and excell in furthering your understanding of characters. The time you spend in each p.o.v. is very well done too, as you never feel taken out of the action or away from something important, it's a coherent and cohesive experience with very little jarring when the switch happens.
Grammar issues are minimal, I noted maybe five in 90 some chapters, there are no issues with breaking immersion. The work feels professional and is very enjoyable.
Read this. It's one of the best novels on this site, hands down. The characters will stick with you, even when you put it d - HemophageRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Writing is great. Dialog is great. Really enjoyed everything about this. It is grimdark, so if you don't like that, I wouldn't read this. If you are ok with that, then enjoy.
One minor criticism, is that the only 4 of the stats seem important. So you have a bunch of stats that don't seem to matter at all, or, some that can't even be interacted with. Why have the intelligence stat at all of it's only used to verify that the girl who surprised you with her smarts, has a high intelligence stat? If 10 is the maximum an un-enhanced mortal can have in a stat, and you start using your 15 strength and 15 speed, shouldn't your stamina 5 endurance be a severely limiting factor? Anyone who has sprinted before can tell you that going all out tires you quick. Now the forces you are using are an order of magnitude greater but no one gets tired in a meaningful or impactful way (in relation to the forces they are wielding). If stamina as a stat doesn't matter, why is it even on the sheet? Solitaire, who is working to create complex machinery and bombs sees no benefit to increasing his dexterity?
Still a really great story. - Think positiveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The premise: take a highly intelligent sociopath, a social Don Juan and a top-level athlete and put them in the medieval ages (think dishevelled, dirty and cutthroat) with rotters, trolls, orcs, vampires and worst of all, bastard humans of varying kinds. How do they work their way from the bottom? And we’re talking real bottom.
The interaction between the characters works well and makes for an interesting read, considering how different they are in character. The POV switches between the trio, and it works, makes things fresh the way they view what happens differently.
A good deal of fighting, it’s grim at times. Most times, but some worse than others. Not for the faint-hearted.
Interactions are great, I love how they break down the minutia of body language and their implications. How to weigh your words, or how not to. A character can’t be smarter than its author and all that.
The story flows like water, you won’t be bored with repetitiveness in either tasks, places or wordings.
Give it a go 👍 - TomaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, it’s been a while since a story has actually made me angry.
I’m mad and planning how to ransom the rest of this story from the author. Or maybe kidnap him.
it should be a free right to press the next chapter button forever, honestly.
Or make it illegal to withhold chapters.
honestly I’m seething and feel like I’m coming down from a high. The author has given me the best drug I’ve taken and now I’m powerless.
don’t read this unless you want to suffer the wait.
but read it regardless. I like solitaire. - XiaodisanRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Certainly an interesting read, I recommend checking it out.
But be warned about the stats. They are incosistent, and fluctuate between chapters without the change being acknowledged by the characters, so I'm 99% sure that it is an editing mistake and not part of an in-world phenomenon.
Having lower or higher stats would be fine, but having the stats be inconsistent rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when their stats are so low, that single point of difference can be huge.
(Additional note, but yes, take the grimdark tag/warning seriously.) - stemcelRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Excellent writing, but it can’t save the story. It says “grim dark” right on the tin, I don’t know what I expected. If you enjoy an unrelenting stream of horrible things happening to and being done by the point of view characters then this is a good one for you.
If you want meaning in suffering, some dignity or higher value to shine through then you’ll need more patience or a keener eye than me to find it here. I wish the authors all the luck with this, they have plenty of talent and world building chops. I will look in on future endeavors with interest- these authors are worth following. - ElectricdjinnRoyal Road★★ 2.0Some really great moments, and then wussed out and Douglas Adams-ed it at the end. Within an author's rights, but I won't read anything by them again.
"I don't feel like writing this anymore" is my number one issue with Royal Road. Too many promising stories cut short, and it sucks. - joeyironRoyal Road★ 1.0First of all, this is a hiatus/dropped novel, it ends abruptly.
Plot points from diffrent arcs are left untouched after an arc is over, vampire with vengance? forgotten. Witch hunters?
A good anti-Ex machina to end story, you just need to teleport them inside the MCs city without social and meticulous mc not realizing they are being hunted or noticing anything going wrong until
-Spoiler for end of story-
he is killed off (thats where story fucking ends by the way. Get fucked dumb reader, you deserved it for ignoring the red flags and not dropping this sooner)
Another thing is Shango;
At early points he cries over dead people and killing people, then through end we get a guy saying "I know you are a pycho like me" followed by Shango's internal thoughts being "they(other 2 MCs) shouldn't know about that" accepting that he is a pycho.
Also they already live with a deranged guy biting peoples noses off and dreaming about cosplaying cartel exucutions, so really? he is afraid of others finding out he is a pycho? So which one it is? i would like to believe its the latter because these authors love retconning stuff later in both OG Authors Nightmare and re-A.N.
Style: Randomly writing goes like its from a diary written by character's future self and is narrated like they are talking about their past. Well good way to fuck over any suspension since we now know they survived and became well off enough to write diaries and narrate their adventures to someone.
Very few grammatical errors though.
