- varkolakRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The synopsis doesn't really do the book any favors. I was really hesitant to give this a shot but I'm glad I did. The premise is making a deal with a higher power to gain a chance at unlimited power after surviving through several grimdark worlds. The first of 3 arcs is all about the game like world and acts as a huge in depth intro. Then in the second arc you get a fun comic book mashup of super powers in a slice of life with some smut time sprinkled in. The third, which is currently being written, adds an element of mystery and will work to wrap everything up into a tidy bow at the end (I hope). Overall I've really enjoyed the read. It has a pretty good mash up of fantasy, anime, comic book, action, fan service, and slice of life.
- EyeofSorenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have been avidly reading on RR and FFN for years, especially in progression and power fantasy areas. This is the best example of how to pace a progression fantasy I have seen since the golden age of Azarinth Healer and Randidly Ghosthound before they both lost their pace.
The classic problem with power fantasy is that when you reach the top there is no where to go and there are 3 solutions. 1. Finish the story there in a glorious happily ever after victory, which some people like but to others leaves at the most interesting part of the story. 2. the ramp to power continues infinitely with Deus Ex Machina problems popping up that we didn't know about until the other thought about it years after teh beginning. The problem here is that previous achievements become meaningless and current ones are devalued because without a core of potentially higher from the beginning our perspectice gets lost.
3. World Hopping. World hopping the most inconsistent of all of the choices. It could turn the story into a pure smut story or result in the MC being so powerfull that nothing matters anymore. OR You gain the ability to use a character that we have grown with and allow them freedom to play in a greater multiverse that they are unaware of, but we are. This flips the story from us learning about something the MC knows more about than we do to the MC learning about things we have prior knowledge of. Successfully transitioning from original ramp to new perspective is the failure point of 90% of these types and Rapturous Rhapsody does it better than any story I have read on either site in 5 years.
I have read ahead on FFN and I will keep spoilers away, but it would be safe to say that, much like path of ascension, this is a story you can really think about. You are never quite sure about what you thought you were, everything is just slightly different enough to create a whole new interpretation of everything presented even though it looks on the surface like any other fanfiction p - HansworthRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So I dove into the story with lopsided knowledge of the anime stuff (mostly Naruto and Fate), a layman’s knowledge of superheroes (basically just movies and fuck all about Worm), thankfully I have a good grasp of the Fromsoftware games. The latter is probably the most important to get a smooth experience reading through Volume 1 while basic superheroes understanding is enough for the rest of the story then the anime stuff is relegated to understanding powers and abilities. Even so, I was able to connect to the fanfic characters through this story’s writing and there was not much need to lean on meta knowledge to try and feel something. The harem itself is quite big (10+) and some girls will have less screen time than others but I never felt that any of them were irrelevant. MC is also a big part of why the whole thing is greatly enjoyable.
As a reader, I’m most impressed and entertained when a story has excellent character interactions. Good plot progression also usually go hand in hand with good character interactions because you care more about what the plot may bring when you care about the characters or a big part of why the interactions are enjoyable is because the characters are reacting to interesting plot events. Great interactions consists of witty banter accompanied by emotionally charged conversation when necessary, usually the inclusion of well-written romance enhances this. Theoretically, a harem would then mean that the opportunity for these interactions would be more numerous than a monogamous relationship. Of course, most authors are not going to live up to these expectations so things end up hollow (heh) in the end. The rare times where I discover stories that can punch through these expectations, I simply can’t get enough and binge through them in no time flat. This story is definitely one of them, a harem with riveting character interactions that I simply couldn’t put down while reading. Also Pr0n :)
The only nitpick I’ll make is that there are ma - meddler88Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I thought about what I could say about this novel and I struggle for words. I have read tens of thousands of stories in my life and while it is not the absolute best novel I have read, it is the best novel I have read in 3 to 5 years. I recommend this story to any who read across it and I hope the Author lives a long, healthy, and inspired life.
I just finished volume 1 and I am still blown away by this story and can not wait for more! - DnojRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Instead, it's actually... Kinda deep? It helps that the trashy intentions were suspiciously blatant at the start. It was supposed to be a trashy harem fanfic - quite literally - but something fudged everything up at the last step, and now our MC is stuck in one of the most miserable situations ever. And yet, through these dark circumstances, his qualities shine through, and we all see this through the heroines' multiple POVs.
Great twist, I must admit. - StormWhiteHdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright, how to start this, I think I will start with the bad first, just to get it out of the way. This book is technically, a trashy harem, wish fulfillment, fan fiction. Technically. I wasn't even going to read this book, not even going to give it a try until I read Dnoj's review. (thanks @Dnoj) Imma be honest it also has some parts that go a little over my head, some concepts a little too esoteric for even me, sometimes the pacing can be a little off, and you can tell especially towards the last book that the author is trying to do a little to much, trying to weave a little to many story lines, tie up slightly too many characters stories, while still making it all one coherent read. There are every so often, a few typos that I noticed, not too many, and also it seemed like this author edited it themselves. Also just from the sheer amount of reference material, and universes this incorporates, there are some things you wont really understand if you don't know those universes. There are going to be some things that you probably wont agree with in this book, the MC is definitely not perfect by any means, and never gets there, and neither is this book. It is definitely not a perfect book by any means, and I can absolutely understand and see how some people wont enjoy this, feeling like its not for them, and that's OK. Also the author makes some bold choices that will divide some readers, both from a literal writing perspective, narratively, and even a moral perspective, but nothing that is truly successful, nothing that is truly amazing and worth it will be loved by everyone, I do firmly subscribe to if you try to please everyone, you will please no one, including yourself.

Now that that is out of the way, let me tell you what this baby is all about. This genuinely might be one of the best pieces of literature I have ever read, and I read a lot, on average about 150-200 books a year from various websites and genres. I actually had to wait a couple hour - ThirdTimeCharmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very well executed multiverse fanfiction story. The justification for plot and power makes sense. Lore and multiverse crossovering is well thought out. The harem is not shallow and works well. The writing is quite good with only the occasional mispell. The humor lands. Just checks a lot of boxes for me. Give it a read.
Looking forward to the rest of volume 3. Cheers, author! - Sarloc GoodenoughRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Despite the main inspiration being the Waifu Catalog, this story is NOT a smut story. In fact the sexy times are only implied in the entirety of volume 1. As for the harem tag, the MC doesn't interact much with most of the girls in the first book. Also the story began from the view point of the girls.
The author have a great writting style and the grammar is really good. I think his self-imposed exercice in characterization is a sucess, each character being unique and multi-dimensional. A lot of informations are only revealed at the end of the book, so it's perfect for people who like a good mystery.
From my point of view there is only two main flaws in this story:
1- Too many girls. Beyond 4-5 I find it really difficult to have enough screen time to make a "harem girl" likable and relevant to the story. Here we begin at 10 and it's only increasing... So inevitably most of them just become background noise.
2- Too much geek knowledge needed. To trully understand the story and the stakes you need extended knowledge of a lot of different medias (following list contain spoilers) :
Animes : Fate Stay Night, One Piece, Naruto
Comics : X-Men, Justice League
Video Games : DarkSouls 1-3, Bloodborne, Elden Ring
So a great story, but incredibly niche. - jase_LVRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0For a waifu catalogue fic, this is pretty good one. There are so many that focuses on the porn aspect of the story and so little that gives good characterisation. We have our waifus, but they never become 1 dimensional lovestruck girls. Don't get me wrong, they are still lovestruck, but at least they keep being "people".
One of the aspects I enjoyed is also the fact that their presence didn't lessen the stakes involved. The MC still has to struggle through stuff to get his happy ever after. And even when it seems that finally he has enough power to go toe to toe with bigshots of the universe, it still is enjayable read as there are always the problem that pure force can't always solve.
I take away a star for the world they inhabit in second part of the story. It's a mix of multiple and even then it's AU (it's explained when they get there, but I won't spell it out). The problem with that, is that I always have a feeling these kinds of mixes blind the reader towards not knowing what might be possible. That's fine for original novels, but for fanfiction, you kind of want to have a constant you can believe in. Out of story example (this doesn't happen). You have Naruto fight Madara, but suddenly All for One from MHA has granted him powers and everything you knew before of the story lore becomes almost useless. Or maybe Sakura is evil in that story. Either way, you are left not sure what to believe in. It's uncomfortable for a reader and while it makes the situation more dangerous with higher stakes, this also makes me somehow less invested. Still, as you can see from the score, the author has managed to mitigate most of this.
