This is the antidote to slow, boring xianxia stories. Fast moving, no unnecessary exposition or info-dumping to slow down the first few chapters. It doesn't drag but it also doesn't feel so rushed that you lose the plot thread. The MC as a villain is interesting without being an edgelord d-bag and the rest of the characters are written in a way that complements the MC without being one-dimensional. The worldbuilding is provided in a well done show-don't-tell manner; the multiple POVs introduce characters and flesh out the world in a really interesting way. I also enjoy how the common xianxia tropes are twisted away from the familiar but still fit the characters. Definitely a five-star beginning, can't wait to read more.
