Pursuing the Demon Lord

Description

Chet is your average college student. He works at a part time job to help pay for his education and clips coupons on the weekends to help save a few dollars when he goes shopping. However, dreams of a simple life and working at a decent job are quickly tossed aside as he finds himself transported into what he assumes to be a fantasy world! Everything was going exactly as he expected it to go, as he had read a few novels describing situations exactly like the one he found himself in. But those expectations are quickly thrown out the window when the Demon Lord herself shows up for a surprise visit!

Perhaps this land of fantasy isn't so fantastical after all.

Crude and rude in a good way with a shotgun ending that leaves a lot open ended but still ends at a good spot.

Short and sweet. Every character unique and interesting.

This story was dumb as hell. I loved it.
Absolute chad Chet starts off as a bit of a jackass, but he firmly finds his feet as our jackass by the end, and the whole story is hilarious. Grade-A comedy, best sci-fi I've ever read on this site.
Go read it, will only take an hour or two. You'll laugh.

Well worth reading for a fun time with great characters and excellent pacing. This story really captures the wondrous curiosity of a new world. All the characters feel very real and all the motivations and actions make sense. It really balances having fun exciting moments without needing anyone to hold the idiot ball. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this tale goes next.

I'm surprised this story is not on the trending chart. maybe you just need some more chapters. I love the flip on the classic reincarnation trope but your title and description lean into a sweet surprise twist. it may be working against you in attracting readers. hopefully this this review will help. great story work so far. way beyond what I was expecting

What else can I say? It's something like those western paperback novels. You know the one where the gunslinger hero beats the baddie in the end.
Not the greatest fiction, but pure fun to read. I read it all in one go and I enjoyed it.
Story quickly moves from isekai to star warsy, and our hero is Harrison Ford. He fights dirty, punches people and wins his girl. That's pretty much it, but still fun to read.
Some modern sensibilities might find it "male oriented" or "patriarchal", but each to ones own.

This felt a lot like reading about a more blunt Han Solo style protagonist in a nice twist on the isekai genre, especially as it shows up on RR.

Very interesting and upbeat. Breaks the monotony of other "summoned hero" stories. Funny as hell

I try to be open-minded when it comes to character portrayal and differing points of view, but I'm also a person of the female persuasion, and this was so obviously not made for my consumption. That said, I'm still a fan of the isekai / portal-fantasy genre, so, unfortunately, I'm part of the reader base.
I'll put up with stories where the MC is a bit chauvinistic or the women are a little vapid, as long as the plot is engaging, but this MC hits like a glass of rancid milk. I hated him so much, my first impulse was to chuck him into Mount Doom. Maybe he gets better later in the story. I'll never know because I can't make it all the way through chapter one.
That said, the writing style and grammar are pretty good, so if you enjoy power fantasies about putting hot women "in their place" this story is for you. Enjoy!

The story started out pretty two-dimensional and over the top. The author settled down and hit his stride to produce a story worth reading but then simply lost steam and wrapped it up. The end was done well but as abrupt as it was with nothing actually happening it still fell flat. It has decent bones and could have been a good story with a rewrite of the beginning, a fleshed out middle and the end pushed back past what feels like the middle of the story.
None of this is any insult or slight against the author, simply a honest analysis. Indeed the author has skill as proven after the rocky introduction. The lack of satisfaction is made worse by the fact that the author settles into what seems like a decent story arc before losing steam midway and re-dashing hopes.
Would not recommend this work unless you like the literary equivalent of blue balls.
